Nope, nothing tho from my understanding the only reason this film happened was because Godzilla v Kong shattered records and made bank during the Covid lockdowns. I was doing some reading and they really weren’t sure if they were going to continue after King of the Monsters but the last film made to much money to ignore. It’s a safe bet that there will most likely be another
Also watched the new Aquaman, that was good, prolly like a decent 7, but I did notice immediately that they completely switched his character into Ragnarok and Love & Thunder Thor, even down to the classic Rock music choice during certain fight scenes. I will say I’m not familiar at all wit the comic version of Aquaman so idk if it’s fitting or not, but they leaned all the way into the whole dude-bro comedy aspect of newer Thor that I feel wasn’t really there before. He was wise cracking to an extent in the first Aquaman and Justice League, but nowhere near this extent. And I can’t help but feel like they did it STRICTLY because Momoa is the same physical archetype as Hemsworth. One’s blonde one’s brunette but realistically swap em out and either or could play either role lmao. They wanted their own Thor and tried to force it instead of simply letting him be his own thing smh.
Dude what? Minus One is the better movie in literally every way
Sure if you’re an old man. Minus One is basically like what you want if you want a depressing, “realistic” take on Godzilla. And that’s cool, and it was different for what it was, but I personally have not lost all my youth yet, so when I watch Godzilla or King Kong or any kaiju type shit, I want all out hard ass ridiculous fight scenes, because it’s SUPPOSED to be ridiculous. The New Empire scratched every itch in that regard and made Minus One feel tame in comparison. There’s nothing realistic about Godzilla in the first place, so realism is not something I’m looking for in a Godzilla movie. Besides that, I feel like Godzilla 2014 did the more “horror movie” approach a lil better, although less grounded and humanized.

It has nothing to do with being old wtf lol I loved the Looney Toons ass fight in the beginning of new Empire with Kong and Kong Jr. but a lot of the movie was a brainless CGI fuck fest. A fun brainless CGI fuck fest but a CGI fuck fest nonetheless. Minus One was grounded and authentic. It said a shit ton without saying too much and it utilized Godzilla perfectly. Granted, I haven’t seen an ass ton of Godzilla but the scene where they’re out on the boat with the mines is a top tier Godzilla scene, quite possibly the best I’ve personally seen so far.
Also the humans. What does it say that the best performance in New Empire was the mostly mute Litte girl? The rest of the human cast were composed of some of the biggest monster movie cliches and brainless quips, the pod caster dude was insufferable. Minus One works because even when Godzilla isn’t on screen, I’m completely enamored with the human cast. The commentary on kamikaze pilots alone was beautifully fucked up. And Godzilla was barely fucking in New Empire lmao the fuck
The original Godzilla and Shin Godzilla were also horror focused and grounded. Almost every Japanese Godzilla is slower paced and about "real" issues like environmental and whatever. The monster fights compliment it, and are super fun, and there are movies like Destroy All Monsters that are just goofy fun, and I like those too, but Godzilla is definitely a franchise capable of slow emotional movies
Nobody is reiterating what you said, you just don’t handle criticism well. You’re boiling it down to grounded and depressing when Minus One is so much more than that. The boat scene has more tension than anything in New Empire that shit kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

So again, if you want a more grounded, realistic, depressing Godzilla, then Minus One is your movie.
If you don’t give a shit about none of that and want fireworks and for a monster movie to be a monster movie, The New Empire works better.
Yall are acting like I said it’s dogshit lmfao I said I liked the damn movie. Eat cock. 💯
But I've been saying since I saw it that it's a good world War 2 drama that just happens to feature Godzilla.
