Also I don't know how it doesn't feel like a Scream movie.
Awareness of horror cliches? Check. Funny at times while being extremely serious and brutal at others? Check. Scary voice on the phone coupled with the Ghostface costume? Check. Ending you don't see coming? Check.

Hot Chicks?

Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell share a scene. I'll just leave that there.
thanks for that, but I would have accepted "check"

none of the characters acted the way they did in the previous 3. dewy wasnt the goofy cop anymore. he was all serious and stuff. gail seemed very different but i can quite put my finger on why. it just had a completely different feel to it. it seemed like they took it in a completely different direction like trying to start a new trilogy which i wouldnt of minded if they tried to do that but i cant really decide if i liked the movie or not. it also seemed like they didnt know what direction they wanted to take the movie so they threw all their ideas into one movie. what i mean by that is when the movie became serious, it was really serious just like most other horror movies and when they went to the humorous side it felt like it was gonna turn into a comedy. it wasn't as fluid with the horror and the comedy like the last 3. and they didnt play the song "Red Right Hand".

it wasnt a transition we ever got to see though. it was just out of the blue. at least with gail you had a good idea she would be all nice and stuff considering what happened at the end of the 3rd one.

also, i think it took the whole "rules" thing way too seriously in this one. i cant really explain myself on that without giving a little bit away so i wont say anything.

Its been 10 years since the events of 3, so it make sense for the characters to be different
When polar bears hunt, they crouch down by a hole in the ice and wait for a seal to pop up. They keep one paw over their nose so that they blend in, because they've got those black noses. They'd blend in perfectly if not for the nose. So the question is, how do they know their noses are black? From looking at other polar bears? Do they see their reflections in the water and think, "I'd be invisible if not for that." That seems like a lot of thinking for a bear.

As for the humor and serious part, I didn't find it to be an issue but whatever.
