He's an idiot. He says most of the baseball people he's talked to are opposed to instant replay. Really Bud? I'd like to know who those people are, because they're hard to find...

I'd honestly rather not have instant replay in baseball.

Heath bell is in the all star game. And of the 5 players done for the final vote. Votto clearly deserved it more then any of the other 4

New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees are reportedly close to acquiring pitcher Cliff Lee from the Seattle Mariners.

According to the New York Post, the Yankees would send prized catching prospect Jesus Montero to Seattle as part of a package for the left-hander.

The paper said the deal could come together this weekend. The Yankees are in Seattle for a four-game series that started Thursday night. Lee is scheduled to start for the Mariners in Friday's contest.

A trade would reunite Lee with CC Sabathia, his former teammate in Cleveland. It could also force the Yankees to make another move with a current strong rotation that includes All-Stars Sabathia, Andy Pettitte and Phil Hughes, as well as A.J. Burnett and Javier Vazquez.

*edit* Buster Olney reported on Mike and Mike that a deal would most likely be done this afternoon.

The Yankees have a winning reputation, in order to uphold that reputation, they need the best, most talented players in baseball. Tell me, that if you were the owner of a major league team and you could afford to have the best of the best, that you wouldn't go after them. Anyone would..You can call their championships bought if you want to. But in the literal sense, it took a team effort to get them where they have been.

"The Yankees have a winning reputation"

The Bankees have a spending reputation. When the Phillies won the title 2 years ago it was with hard work, determination, good drafting, and heart and it was the best feeling in the world to have my team that struggled for years win like that. the yankees won it last year because they spent the most money. their roster is almost 50million more than anyone else, the average player salary for the spanks is 8mil, almost 3 mil more than any other team. how can a yanks fan feel good about that? its like banging a hott as chick because she likes you or paying to bang a hott ass hooker who pretends to like you? ITS FAKE

So George, your telling us that if you were the owner of a sports franchise and had the money to out and obtain the best roster as possible to pretty much guarantee yourself a championship, you wouldn't? C'mon, man. You know damn good and well at the end of the day, this is a business.

I think anyone who says they wouldn't go after the best players, if they had the payroll to do it, is full of shit. What are you going to do, go out and get mediocre players? Wait for your farm system players to mature? No! You want the best players that you know will draw a crowd and that you know can get you the wins. It's just as much a business as it is a game. If other teams had the payroll that the Yankees have, you can bet every last dollar you have that they would be doing the same.

no, i never said that if i had the money i wouldnt do that. all i said is, as a fan, it feels better to win with home grown players and hardwork, than having an all star team, and getting the best free agents every year. the yankees are always in it because they have the most money. when theyre's a salary cap, like every other sport, the hardest working team and team with the most chemistry wins. you should know that from the saints man

its just pathetic the way they do it....they spend the most for all the best players and still only have one world series in the last 10 years....even with clif lee they aren't guaranteed anything.....just cause a-roid had one good postseason dont mean shit....and with a good pitching staff anyone can take them down
