Atlas Shrugged is on my list. Haven't gotten to it yet. Right now I'm reading books from school and Game of Thrones. I'm trying to limit myself to a mere 100pgs per day of non-school related reading.
I know it sounds cliche, but Atlas Shrugged is probably my all time favorite book. I believe people usually love the book to death, or hate it with a passion. I've never met anyone who was like "ehh... it was alright". I've noticed that the people who tend to really love it are those that are more libertarian leaning, and those that tend to hate it are more socialist leaning. I felt as if Rand did a masterful job of explaining the philosophy without making it seem boring and dry. It reads like a beautiful story, but has a profound foundation at its core. It is one of the very very few books that I will absolutely read again.
People say that you should read Fountainhead before Atlas Shrugged to see if you will like her style, but I disagree fully. Fountainhead quite simply is not as good of a story. Go for broke I say... Start with the best.
Basically if you like fantastic stories and think people should be valued by their work ethic and what they can produce, then you will probably love Atlas. If you think people should be entitled to everything simply because they are breathing, then you will probably hate the story.

My offer stands for anyone else... If you want the Millennium Trilogy or LOTR's Trilogy (plus hobbit) for an ereader (epub format) then just PM me and include your email. I'll send it to you over email... it is very small compressed.

I actually stumbled across Atlas Shrugged back in my freshman year of college. I had never heard of it or Rand (I wasnt too big of a reader in k-12) but stumbled across a book list put out by the library of congress for the top 10 most influential books. #1 was the bible, #2 was Atlas.

My senior year of high school we had a small unit on Ayn Rand and watched a movie about her and I've been interested ever since. Maybe I'll pick it up over the summer.

ereaders are pretty sweet. I understand liking physical books, but e-readers are a pretty decent alternative if you can get past not being able to look how much left you have. (yes it has page numbers but it always seemed easier to see the actual pages left)
