because its now against societies norms to discipline children the way they should be its frowned upon to just them a smack once in a while and no one wants to deal with reprocussions from it years ago, kids were taught to respect people and faced consequences when they didnt now, its the excuse 'oh well theyre just kids' or 'boys will be boys'
Do you know many people though who would actually say though that they became a good citizen because they were smacked as a kid? In the same way that the reason why people don't do herion isn't because it's illegal, they don't do it because it's stupid.
Phrases like boys will be boys aren't being used for things like that bus monitor being tormented.

I just don't see how people can say things like kids these days when things like this predate even our generation. And even if you blame things like the media or discipline, doesn't that mean the problem isn't even them...it's us? It's the later generations that...y'know, run the ridiculous media and discipline their kids inappropriately...
no, i listen to many hours of call-in talk radio with real people telling real stories that have nothing to do with this particular incident im not saying its media at all so dont put words in my mouth how do we have any effect on the discipline kids recieve? thats the parents job which ive said before

I was addressing people who disagreed with what I was arguing in general, not you in particular. Dayna mentioned media, and both of you mentioned discipline. I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth. I think call-in talk radio to random stories isn't necessarily the best sample through which to decide what things are. A "kids are kids" reaction to someone making their teacher cry is ridiculous, but a "kids are kids" reaction to some other things may not be.
I said it's us as the older generations. As the non-kids, if that's what we think of ourselves as. Parents are included in that. We're talking about generational differences, the youths and the non-youths. We are both non-youths, right?

Because parents and non-youths are part of the same generation, even if they're not the part of the same demographic. There are parents who our our age who are fucking up, and if it's a problem with the generation, then we're equally at risk even if we don't have the same responsibility. It's not that I'm saying we're all equally responsible, but we all are culpable for the generation's impact.
Yeah, listening and observing are cool, but I just think the response is relative, and I think that "kids are kids" excuses are useable in some occasions but not in others. This, clearly, is not one of those cases. I just wish we could know what stories are being excused for that. Things like profanity is rising amongst youths, yeah, kids will be kids. People taunting kids to the point of suicide and bus monitors to crying isn't kids will be kids. But that's not the kids' fault. It's the parents.
Those kids would've gotten the fuck beat out of them if I was on the bus, the bitches included, and that video is prime example A of why I was an outcast at school and was never like anyone else. Bunch of fucking useless retards.
Now, I'm not an angel, I've fucked with teachers to the fullest extent (Not sure if the old lady is a teacher or not.), but that shit was borderline abuse, I've never went that far, everything I did was for laughs, I only went personal when a teacher called me a good for nothing moron, but that shit looked completely unprovoked.
