some parents just really suck at raising their kids
Or rather most just don't care or are scared to discipline their kids out of fear they'd be taken away
maybe. probably in some cases. but i hear way too many stories of parents believing the lies their kids tell them about school and then the parents being douche bags to the teachers about it. honestly, every kid tries to lie to their parents to get away with something. how can parents not realize this?

parents are not able to discipline their children the same way anymore and shit like this is the result of that. fact and point.
without proper discipline you get little fucking shits like this.
What metric are you measuring this by? Is there some kind of discipline-o-meter that I've just never heard of? What major laws have been passed to eliminate parents disciplining kids?
Things like physical discipline have been phased out because people think it results in negative effects on the kids' psychology, but discipline hasn't really changed much since the Hippie era, because that's when non-restrictive parenting became more common.
In the end, no one's been more right here than Skully just was. Some people are shitty at raising their kids, and that's always been true and always will be true.
media and entertainment doesn't have to directly say it. for one example, have you seen (or at least heard of) project x? movies like that are encouraging the younger generations to have the "not give a fuck" attitude and "fuck adults they don't deserve respect attitude" and "the world revolves around us" attitude and so on.
yeah there were movies kind of similar to that back in the day, but all the ones I've seen were nowhere near as mindfuckingly stupid as that one.
you can go ahead and say you think it just seems more prevalent because people can record the shit and post it online, but that doesn't mean it has not gotten worse.
parents are not allowed to discipline their children the way most of our parents were able to when we were growing up. parents now have to be scared of protective services and shit like that. things have changed A LOT since we were growing up. there is zero doubt about that.
You certainly aren't calling mindless rebellion new, are you? Rebel Without A Cause came out in '55. Sure, Project X may be more extreme, but the idea of not respecting your elders, not caring and so on aren't new. Just because Project X is more extreme doesn't mean that these ideas haven't been being pushed on to kids for years now. Rebellion and/or party movies aren't new. They're only more extreme now because they have to be if they want to sell.
I'll agree with the disciplinary thing.
at the school my mom teaches at kids were recently allowed to make formal complaints against teachers.
Yeah, but they probably won't do shit unless they're making legit complaints. Some teachers are abusive in nature and shouldn't teach. Just because a chld has the option to complain about teachers doesn't mean the school district will take notice to every single fucking complaint and side with the kid. They'd only do so if the case is actually bad and they recieve multiple complaints about a certain teacher.

Because some, or maybe even most parents think their little liars are angels and believe them over everyone else. I wonder if the parents would be douche bags to cops if their kid gets arrested for something

Ok you live in your ignorant world of "nothing ever changes" and be happy there. I'll keep my head out of my ass and see the bullshit for what it is.
Holy shit that's cool. You just stop reading responding and reacting and then call me ignorant. It's exactly what everyone gives Erik shit for.
I just don't see how there's an objective way to measure that kids are being treated drastically differently. If you see it, then tell me. Jesus, it's not like I'd be afraid to say I'm wrong if you at least gave me something to think about.
Besides, I'm a bleeding heart liberal. If nothing ever changed then I'd be contradicting all of my political belief.
Neither was I. I wouldn't doubt that a fair amount of the forum were never like these kids. But we're a faily small perentage of the population. Just because you and I weren't bad doesn't meant others weren't.
i remember when i was in like 6th grade some kids in my class ragged on our substitute teacher so much they made her cry. and the little assholes were proud of it!

Physical discipline only goes so far. Believe me, I know kids who got the belt or the hand, and it didn't change their actions. The discipline argument goes both ways. Nothing much will change if you don't hit them at all or only hit them.

You may have read what I said, but you didn't respond to it. I don't really get why people think I have some superiority complex, either. It's weird.
You really think things haven't changed and social media, media, and entertainment hasn't changed the way kids act these days?
No, I do, that's jut not what you were saying. You were talking about discipline, which is completely different.
This is what you said.

If you're going to say that this is the result of social media, media, entertainment, then whatever. I think it's too difficult to go directly to it fucking up the entire generation below us. Kids are going to be different from their parents, sure, but it's not because of discipline. I don't really think that there are more malcontents like you are saying, because I think it's similar to the increase in drug use in the 70's but its just a lot more destructive and visible.
I just want you to tell me what you're basing this all off of other than conjecture or instinct.

god god i was never like those kids
Exactly! That's why everyone reacts to it this way! They see these kids and think that just because they weren't like that, few or none of them existed in their time. But the truth is that these sort of kids have always been out there, but now that we're the outside looking in, it seems more vile.
theyre coddled and taught to believe theyre always right so that they dont call child services and cry emotional abuse face it, society has put children on such a high pedestal [sp?] that they can do no wrong its easier now than ever for a child to accuse someone of ANY kind of abuse without proof and have the parents penalized for it parents nowadays are pussies and i see it every single time i go to work

It's because I divied it up to what I thought you were actually saying. I could do a little indirect response to you saying about me thinking I'm wiser than everyone, then quote what I actually needed people to see in my response.
Can you really find something that you said in that paragraph before my response that I could actually respond to as it related to kids?
I'll admit I'm wrong, but neither of us have really argued anything. It's been more of just one group of people telling another that "oh my god you don't think _______?" then when the other says no, it's because they're ignorant or stupid.

Here. When Skully was in 6th grade. And now he's 26(correct me if I'm wrong). I've seen it happen to an actual teacher once in the 6th grade. Now these chilrden who are around that age are doing it to some facutly.
I'm not claiming that the way the media affects children has been static, but to say that children being assholes is new to whatever degree is wrong.
