theyre coddled and taught to believe theyre always right so that they dont call child services and cry emotional abuse face it, society has put children on such a high pedestal [sp?] that they can do no wrong its easier now than ever for a child to accuse someone of ANY kind of abuse without proof and have the parents penalized for it parents nowadays are pussies and i see it every single time i go to work
Here we go, that makes sense.
I think this is correct, and the amount of checks and balances in things like child protection and services has gone down. But I don't think that makes the entire previous generation into kids like the ones in that video.
Things like parental presence and education are so much more related than these kids not getting their asses beat when they were young or calling child services on their folks.
well, nothing is going to be the ENTIRE age group, but thats the majority that i come in contact with [those include my young cousins] so thats enough for me to make that assumption i still think punishments should be able to be more severe than a simple 'time out' or written apology

Written apologies are bullshit and timeouts don't work either, because kids are too young to understand that just taking a ton of time out of their day is that bad of a thing. Punishment is related to parenting, so I guess we could compromise in that it's the parents fault. Them neglecting them in some way made them into the little shits they are. Whether it's worth generalizing to the entire age group, is a different matter. That's a bigger discussion though that's sooo much longer than the one we've been having.
I have repeated many times it is media/social media/entertainment and the lack of discipline as the result of parents now getting in trouble for such things. didn't know I had to spell it out for you and say it was a combination. Everyone else seemed to be able to grasp that concept.
Yeah, that's what you're saying. But you're not saying anything more than that, and getting angry when I ask you to.
What about the media/social media directly results in this behavior? What about discipline?
i remember when i was in like 6th grade some kids in my class ragged on our substitute teacher so much they made her cry. and the little assholes were proud of it!
Here. When Skully was in 6th grade. And now he's 26(correct me if I'm wrong). I've seen it happen to an actual teacher once in the 6th grade. Now these chilrden who are around that age are doing it to some facutly.
I'm not claiming that the way the media affects children has been static, but to say that children being assholes is new to whatever degree is wrong.
you are correct, im 26. was in 6th grade in 97/98

well since it was done on a school bus, i think the school should have a say in some of the discipline, no? i mean, a separate punishment from the school would be nice because you cant depend on the parent to teach their child really anything they dont want to and not even JUST the parents in the sense that the child could have some sort of mental condition that causes them to act out, which ive seen before in my moms friends kids actually, yea, even then its the parents job to get them diagnosed and treatment all im saying is that kids shouldnt be dubbed little saints from the second they come out of the womb for the rest of their lives they need to be taught whats right and wrong in everyday situations and not looked over when they violate basic manners and decency

I think the fork in the road happened before this event, but I see what you mean. I think the reason the bus monitor didn't react in a more extreme way is because she feared the repercussions of her disciplining the kids too harshly. Unless I'm mistaken, we agree on that.
But yeah, it's the parents fault. It's the parents' job to observe their kids behavior and if treatment is the issue, then it's their job to get it. If the kids are being dubbed little saints from the second they come out of the womb, it's the parents fault for not teaching them that shit doesn't always work out for them. They need to be taught what's right and wrong, but whose job is that?
It's the parents. Because whenever there's an issue of things being taught like evolution or birth control in schools, parents ask for that responsibility to be put upon them, but then in issues like this, it's suddenly the school's fault?
It's the parents fault for being bad parents, and maybe discipline is included in that. The responsibility is with the parents, just the way they want it. Unless it gets them in trouble, of course.
but i still think the school should have a separate punishment for them since it happened on THEIR bus, you know what i mean? same thing like if they had done something like that to a teacher in a classroom i dont doubt at all that its mostly, if not all, the parents fault but like i said, you cant force someone to do anything in terms of punishment at least with the school doing something, they get some sort of reprimanding

what?
That story took place before 2005, which is when kids started to misbehave.
You mean more kids started to misbehave and in bigger ways...for example break ins and theft
I just got to thinking if there were statistics to help this discussion out, and I found a brief on juvenile crime. It didn't get to breaking and entering and stuff, but it turns out that violent crime in youths has DECREASED since 1980.

I doubt these kids go unpunished, if that's what you're saying. Since there's documentation of them doing this shit, there's no way they don't get suspended/expelled.
You can't force anyone to do something in terms of punishment, yeah, but hasn't it always been that way? Why are kids all the sudden so much shittier if parents were never forced to discipline their kids in some way before now?
because its now against societies norms to discipline children the way they should be its frowned upon to just them a smack once in a while and no one wants to deal with reprocussions from it years ago, kids were taught to respect people and faced consequences when they didnt now, its the excuse 'oh well theyre just kids' or 'boys will be boys'
Sure I guess violent crimes in kids have gone down since the 80's according to that chart. But where I'm from there never used to be violent crimes by kids and if there were it was rare. Now it's more common and creating quite a problem
