Beat The Last Of Us (as well as the Left Behind DLC). It’s a fine game. I don’t think it’s bad and I don’t think it’s great, it just falls sort of in the middle but a slight lean towards good. I have no idea what it felt like to play it upon release so maybe it felt more impactful then but I just found it to be a sort of average action game.
I actually really enjoyed the characters and the narrative, specifically Joel and Ellie’s relationship and Tommy. Their specific story is told beautifully and I was fully invested in it. The game becomes a lot more engaging after you meet Bill, those first couple of hours bored me to tears and I felt like all I did was walk and set ladders up.
The combat is okay. I actually liked that you had to make ammo count and stealth become more of a tangible option instead of a tacked on mechanic. I wish there was a bit more variety in the infected (and a bit more of them in general actually you fight way too many humans). That being said the basic designs are alright and Clickers can fuck right off. I typically never have to turn the difficulty down but they fucked my ass one too many times and I had to swallow my pride.
Crafting could have definitely been a bit more fleshed out, that’s the one mechanic that felt sort of half assed and the pacing was like 70% of the way there, it just definitely needed some trim in the beginning. Last Of Us is a weird franchise for me because I was never particularly interested in it and I literally know almost everything that happens in the games because it was spoilered to death but that weirdly didn’t take away from the climax of the game for me and I’m looking forward to seeing the division the Firefly incident causes between Joel and Ellie in part II. 6/10.

Been gaming a lot more the past few weeks because of the Series X. Started a fresh run of Wild Hunt with the intention of finally getting every last achievement but instead am just doing a regular go at it because I don't have the attention span to follow guides for every last gwent card and piece of Witcher school gear. I'll finally go for a completionist run when I get back surgery in 10 years.
How is that quidditch game? It was free on PSN a while back and I completely forgot to grab it. I’m interested because Harry Potter but I can tell off the bat it’s not something I’d wanna pay any amount of money for lol

I know I joked about this when I talked about beating the first Last Of Us but Last Of Us 2 is really fucking gay lol like just super cringe at points. They already did this right with Bill idk why they’re going so apeshit here. The opening chapter is talking about how Ellie kissed a girl and how the old bartender guy said a slur and they don’t even have the balls to say the slur. I laughed out loud at the bigot sandwiches line and how the game presented it as some mic drop moment even though it’s extremely fucking lame. Hairy armpit lesbians making out and smoking weed isn’t really what my brain jumped to when I thought of Last Of Us 2 but here we are. And I know it sounds like I’m hyper focusing on it but like that’s legit all I’ve been presented with in this game so far. It’s just kind of been a gay walking sim. Relationship drama and fag shit. And when something finally happens it’s Joel dying in a super dissatisfying way. Like I don’t even care about the mystery of how Abby’s group knows him I’m just kind of annoyed and don’t really wanna play this game anymore. How the fuck did they decide this was what the first 2.5 hours of this game was gonna be? Does this get better?

In short, no not really. Without spoiling it, the ending is one of the most disappointing endings I’ve ever seen in any game, movie, or show, EVER. It makes the entire game and narrative feel like a waste of fucking time. And on top of that, I Platinum’d the game, which requires about half of a second speed run playthrough, and that really put in perspective how much of the game is a neverending non-playable cutscene. By skipping cutscenes in the 2nd playthrough, I got past the first 5 hours of the game in bout an hour lmao.

I didn't like parts of the story, but overall the writing is pretty well done. You will find out more about other characters that will make that moment make more sense.

Can’t do it anymore. I thought we were bouncing back and forth between Ellie and Abby to set up Joel’s death but I ain’t playing as this bitch for God knows how many hours. It also says the game is like 25 hours long and yeahhhh no. I’m like 7ish hours in and was hoping to see end credits soon. Can’t do it Captain. I waited a decade to play this series and my impression walking away from it is that Last Of Us 1 is alright and 2 is gay as fuck lol
