The only other President to directly impact my life personally was Bush Jr. when he got into office, it was an immediate $400 tax cut. I bought a snowmobile with it. I think bubbles exist where it seems like one party/candidate has a big advantage that’s not real. I see a ton of people on social media today in disbelief the Trump won. It makes total sense to me. I have one black friend that still hates Trump, but every other black and Latino person I know personally voted Trump. It makes sense if you think about it. Those groups have been overlooked by Dems in favor of illegals and sex perverts. Latinos specifically lean right anyways. A bunch of them are Catholics, so the party affiliation was tenuous there to begin with. Black people are hurt the most by the inflation. My black cousins voted for Trump in 2020 and had their white liberal friends disown them over it. Didn’t exactly endear much good faith being told who they’re allowed to support. The Democrats need to get on board with something different. A non-career politician who doesnt just back the status quo, and actually wants to see something different. I still believe that Bernie was their best bet, he would have MOPPED Trump 8 years ago. But they just coast with milquetoast career politicans. Especially locally because they never have any competition. Objectively the Dems running Illinois have not done a good job in many areas, and that is why they're unpopular. But the Dems wont learn, they just keep doing the same shit every four years.
And online leftists are really pushing people away because they're insufferable people. Not all of their ideas are bad. Of course I want women, and racial minorities, and gay people to have their rights and live how they want to live. I want everyone to have freedom and not live in fear. But you dont get people to support you by being a preaching asshole on the internet. You push people away with constant victim rhetoric. You piss people off when you advocate for censorship. You come off as a pretentious twat when you tell people to "learn theory". "Organizing" is hollow because they dont do anything than sit around and whine. They pander, pay lip service, and project - and that has turned so many people away from the real values that I think most people would actually agree with.
