Is KSE that good? I remember you specifically were always one of the ones extra harsh towards Core. Unless you’ve opened your mind more since then since Scarlxrd is somehow on your list.

Im still not into a lot of hardcore and scenecore type bands, but Im big on metalcore, especially the second wave, I even play in a metalcore band now. And the new KSE is amazing.

Also Im not huge on the "trap metal" scene, but I do like Scarlxrd. Still prefer older rap ala Public Enemy, but I also like Necro and Ill Bill for the metal influenced rap. Not big on like Ghostemane though

Hate all of it. Hate Ghostemane, some of $uicideboy$ is “okay” but overall they’re too corny and tryhard. Scarlxrd definitely has something unique going for him but I don’t feel that it necessarily works sonically. Idk I feel like that whole “Trap Metal” scene type shit is the new Nu-Metal and fails in the same way in the sense that it’s too tryhard. Ho99o9 overall prolly pulls it off the most natural and smoothest, but still not my thing. I think the closest thing to that scene that I legitimately adore is Night Lovell, but he doesn’t even fit into the whole Trap Metal thing. He’s jus extremely dark depressed straight up Trap, although really heavy as far as production goes.

As I had said in a random post recently, I feel like the best example recently, and essentially EVER, of Rock/Metal + Hip Hop working is Bring Me The Horizon’s “why you gotta kick me when i’m down?”. And that’s only one song because obviously that didn’t become their overall new sound and it was a one off experiment that went extremely well. But that’s what the fuck it should be if you’re gonna blend those 2 genres out of anything else. Shit, shit was technically 3 genres since it had the EDM outro slapped on it as well. And even that shit was absolute gas.

Don’t know where else to put this but “Unsainted” is one of the top 3 songs of the entire year and arguably Slipknot’s hardest single of all time. Might not be the absolute “catchiest” on a commercial level, but jus the artistry. That choir they incorporated was fucking GENIUS and gave me “Crucify Me” vibes from when BMTH dropped TIAHBMISITIAHLKIAS. That shit, to ME, showed a lot of fucking maturity from the same band who produced “YOU CAN’T SEE CALIFORNIA WITHOUT MARLON BRANDO’S EYES!!!!” lmao. And that breakdown wit the samples on the turntables was the most blatantly that they ever actually used the DJ lmao. Record is beautiful, still going thru the whole album as far as multiple listens, but as it stands, I can’t lie, the only 2 records to fully impress me this year have been in the Rock/Metal realm. BMTH and Slipknot. Hip Hop/RnB been fucking DRY this year. Last year was fantastic in comparison.

Check out Devin Townsend's Empath. Truley one of the most unique albums I've ever heard, and a true deconstruction of the genre. Dude mixes a bunch of genres and makes it all flow so seamlessly. New Slipknot is absolute ass in comparrison.

Yeah one song from Empath even hit #73 on the billboard charts.
    Pass the god damn butter.
