ours is hitting one of our shittiest ones too. tours with those kinds of bands ALWAYS hit the same one. the fact that mayhem didnt was a miracle.

They were on a massive hiatus for a while. Everyone in the band but the singer left. He just got a new band together, and are going back at it

There was a whole thrash revival movement though, and Warbringer was just at the top for the time. There is no blackgaze movement.

lots of bands. Alcest, Ghost Bath ( I don't like them but the kids do smh), Bosse-de-Nage. People keep calling Oathbreaker and Archivist blackgaze. I think post-black metal and blackgaze are kind of interchangeable, but not the same as atmospheric black metal.

I interchange post and atmosphic, so maybe I just think of it differently. But bands like Fen, and Woods of Desolation, and Alcest are not the same as Deafheaven. I'll give you Ghost Bath. But I dont think blackgaze is really a thing outside of hipster communities and Deafheaven. 

The trash ressurgence was a big thing.

I think you're giving nu thrash too much credit. Sure there were a ton of bands but 90% of them were trash and only a few got really big.
