i think it's record label influence that dictates the tours here. i doubt many people were like "wow. i really hope asking alexandria is main stage again this year", but here we sit. i've prolly mentioned this before, but i went to a radio festival one year that was headlined by stone temple pilots and green day. the side stages that day were a bunch of "up and coming" artists. my friend cat worked at the station that hosted the show and told me it was just a bunch of label bribes that got bands on stage. on the side stage that day was linkin park, nickelback and disturbed. nobody knew who any of them were. i'm fairly certain linkin park's first album hadn't even come out at the time. all ended up getting heavily pushed on the radio thereafter. they all just kinda came out of nowhere and popped up on tours supporting gigantic bands. and it worked. many times labels will force fests and tours to take one of their shitty, fledgling artists on tour in order for the fest to secure good headliners. bad acid trip and american head charge ending up on ozzfest along with soad is a good point of reference. to previous points: i think culture has little to do with it. i don't think people really are asking for what they're getting. they're just settling for what's there. a lot of people just kinda chill back and let things like radio dictate to them what to listen to. i'm always playing shit for my musically square friends that they think is awesome, but have never bothered to dig up themselves. that's who mayhem is for
Spot on Satan. Ozzfest came right out and said some bands get paid to be on, others pay to be on... and its not like the bands have the money. Its the label.
mayhem has 2 label showcase stages now. two of the most annoying, shitty labels on the map. i doubt kevin really even gives a shit what 6 bands those labels produce for him
yeah, but they prolly figured it would at least be decent like last time when they had behemoth and slayer around. it doesn't seem like anyone knew the final lineup until about a week ago
cannibal corpse and body count are the only bands i give a fuck about. maybe some of the ones i don't know much about are aight, but for the most part this tour is a wash

Yep, fuck those guys
Asking Alexandria
Butcher Babies
What's the name of that motocross team they get to perform every year?
That's who I'd be most excited for if I were going.
I kinda feel sorry for Cannibal Corpse on this one. There's almost nobody cool to hang out with
Corpsegrinder is just gonna play WoW when they're not on stage.
Wretched ain't bad
but then again I haven't really heard much of their actual stuff. I just love that instrumental track the exodus of autonomy
Fuck that. They chose this life.

Nope
Corpse > Darkest Hour > the rest
CC>VoM>UABB>Wretched>the rest
Not even worth going to. Not really into those bands either but they'd be the only ones I'd watch.
