This scene in this video was by a factor of 10 greater then anything else in this show. Dont get me wrong, I like the show, cant wait for Season 3, and this scene was badass but the rest of the show isnt as good as this 1 scene. That scene is like 10/10... the show on average is 7.5/10.

Hopefully no one is reading this cares about spoilers. But yeah that's what im talking about. Renly was a pretty big deal and they are all getting ready to go to war and they are like "hold up... I gotta idea. Lets go to a cave so I can give birth to a smoke demon who can go and kill Renly" Then that gets done and they are like... okay now lets go attack kings landing.

okay... yeah I've not read the books so I dont know the back story. As it was presented in the show though it was a major plot hole and completely retarded. After I saw the smoke demon I kept thinking that Stark should just reattach his head, hop on a rainbow unicorn and shove candy-canes up Jofferys ass.
The shadow monster was Melisandre's doing. She wanted to prove to Stannis and others that he was the "Prince Who Was Promised". In the books, we don't see her give birth to the monster to kill Renly. A shadow just appears and his throat is slit. It's a really unheroic death for a king, which was the point. No glory. Just death. In the book, Melisandre gives birth to the shadow to kill another man that was holding Storm's End so he could take Storm's End (Renly's seat). Also, Melisandre promised three deaths. I can't say more without spoiling. In the books (I know I keep saying this 'in the books') Melisandre is way more powerful and manipulative. She freaks me out.

Magic is only reemerging in the land because of the birth of the dragons. That's why Renly's death this way was SO important. It's a set up for more magic to come.
