My common Stock portfolio has made me 25% which has increased those holdings by roughly 50,000 over the last 9 months alone. I disagree with the enjoying yourself being all that matters. At some point in time you have to realize that you can't rely on other people to take care of you. That it isnt someone elses responsibility to put a roof over your head and put food on your table. I understand at 17 he isnt at that point, and that's fine... but in less then a year he will be.

So yeah, I agree that money isnt important as far as getting the most out of life. However you have to take responsibility and make sure you are providing for the basic necessities of your life and the life of your family. if you are doing that then yeah... enjoy your life even if it doesnt pay out.
