hey erik, you went to corpse at the rave right? was it really in the basement? i wasn't able to go, and if it really was in the basement im gunna be really pissed i missed it. the basement is definitely the best stage at the rave.
Drove 5 hours to this and it was totally worth it! St.Paul is such a boring town though lol.
Lecherous Nocturne-awesome band, had never heard them untile than. Just your average death metal band, pretty good. 6/10
Skeletonwitch- amazing and even better seeing them the second time. 8/10
1349-First time I ever saw a Norwegian Black Metal band and it was awesome! 8/10
Cannibal Corpse-4th time seeing these guys and they were better than ever! they are alwasy on their A+ game and Corpsegrinder is an awesome entertainer! 10/10
got a setlist as well
Scalding Hail Unleashing the Bloodthirsty Murder Worship Sentenced To Burn Savage Butchery The Cryptic Stench Pounded Into Dust The Wretched Spawn Gutted Evisceration Plague Disfigured Scattered Remains, Splattered Brains Make Them Suffer Priests of Sodom Staring Through the Eyes of the Dead Devoured by Vermin A Skull Full of Maggots Hammer Smashed Face Stripped Raped and Strangled
all shirts from all 4 bands were $20. Skeletonwitch and Cannibal Corpse both had tour shirts. Took my pic with Corpsegrinder that I'll post later on since I don't have my camera USB with me at the moment. miss placed it somewhere=(
Here is a review of a tour that nobody here likes... Job for a Cowboy and Whitechapel
Standing in line, I couldn't help but overhearing the conversation behind me. This kid was talking about "Dude my dad would disown me if he heard the music I listened to" I wanted to ask him "Why? Is it because he listens to real metal." But then I figured I wasn't in a place to say that seeing as I was there for Whitechapel.
Numero Uno, Gaza. These guys were different. I didn't like their music at all, but they certainly had energy. I don't understand what their music made people, but this kid did three stage dives, and each time landed on his head. You would think the first time would have deterred him. Their vocalist was tall as hell too.
Cattle Decapitation - Not my type of music, but I kind of enjoyed their set. Way to much tempo changing for me though. Also very energetic.
Whitechapel - Main reason I went. I got to check out their set list..Once again no Messiabolical. I wanted to rage. They got eight songs overall. Once they came out, I was getting hit way to much...the end result was me sitting indian style onstage. There were about 5 other people sitting on stage, it was cool. Anyway I recorded Darkest Day of Man, Eternal Refuge, Possession, Father of Lies, Vicer and This is Exile..That sounds like a lot so I'm not sure I got all that. Loved the show.
JFAC - I stayed back for the most part. Watching them is wierd because they go back and forth between completely different sounds. I made my way up and recorded Regurgitated Disinformation and Ruination..Then I went back and sat out the rest of the set.
After the show. My ride decided to leave their phone on silent...so I got to stay after an extra hour..It was a fun experience. I saw the guy from Cattle Decapitation downstairs at the bowling alley..Then walked around some more and saw the vocalist for Gaza just walking outside. I sat outside by Whitechapel's van and talked to them whenever they came outside putting stuff away. I wanted to grab a pic with them after they finished, but my ride showed up just as they were finishing..Phil was pretty cool too. I'll see em next time.
My Taproot review got completely ignored btw. Not even a "Taproot sucks".....*sigh*
Ive seen taproot live and they were good but 9.5/10 is a little ridiculous. ive seen him do that mosh pit thing too so he prob does it every show. that part was great.....
Other interesting facts....Chapels drummer got sick or something, so they had another guy fill in. Also, after Whitechapel, about 1/4 of the crowd left..
Cannibal Corpse Tour - Denver Colorado - 05/03/2010
Me and buddy went to this one last night and its the best show ive been to in the past year since I saw Testament at the same venue.
Merch was like 20 bucks for shirts, but Skeletonwitch had a few that wer 15. They were running out of a lot of sizes and designs which annoyed me but what can ya do? I got a Skeletonwitch tour shirt and Boiling Flesh Corpse shirt
Cannibal Corpse was filming the Denver and New Mexico shows for their upcoming dvd, so the crowd was going crazy their entire set. I was front row center and was yelling and singing with the camera in my face half the time so im curious to see if im gonna end up in the final footage anywhere.
Lecherous Nocturne - 7/10 These guys werent too impressive, but they werent exactly horrible either, hence the neutral score. Typical death metal. I thought it was cool that they handed out a free cd to the guy who was craziest in the pit. I hate when opening bands get mad or annoyed when the crowd simply stands there for their set, which the singer did several times, but overall they were decent.
Skeletonwitch - 10/10 These guys were fucking amazing. They were flawless. Every song sounded perfect, they got great crowd reaction, it was just awesome. This is my 2nd time seeing them and each time ive started to enjoy this band more and more. Chance is an amazing frontman. He let me and the kid next to me sing a verse in "Repulsive Salvation" and I got their setlist, signed by all the members too. The setlist isnt any or much different from other dates so I wont post it. I also chilled with the band after the show but more on that later.
1349 - 5/10 Before last night I had never seen a black metal band live. After seeing 1349, I really dont want to see any more. They seemed really cocky and the whole evil look doesnt sit well with me. But putting aside their appearance, their music is mediocre as well. I couldnt wait for it to end. I got a setlist but I dont have it with me, so ill edit later for their setlist. If you are a fan of this band id probably give them an 8/10 because the music itself was well executed, its just my personal opinion that the music is shitty.
Cannibal Corpse - 10/10 What is there to really say? Its Cannibal Corpse. In my Mayhem review I said Corpsegrinder sounded awful. Must have been an off day cuz they fucking killed it. One of the craziest crowds ive ever seen. I was right in front of Alex fucking Webster (me and the kid next to me kept mock bowing to him and telling him he is a living legend) I know theyve had a rotating setlist but im too lazy to figure out which one Denver got. Awesome ending to an awesome show.
After the show me and my friend met all of Skeletonwitch and they gave us some autographs.
We talked to the guitarist Scott for like an hour, he was a great guy. We asked how getting on Ozzfest was like, and he said (not exact quotes but the general idea) "I know some of our fans are gonna claim we sold out for doing a show with like Motley Crue and Ozzy and shit, but its a good opportunity for us to get our music out. Plus we are good friends with Saviours and Goatwhore so we will have people to party with. I hope I get to meet Halford at some point on the tour!"
Awesome night, and it was only 7 dollars (Thanks laurjon!!!)
Got back from the Facemelter tour w/Dying Fetus, Arsis, Misery Index, Annontations of an Autopsy. I'm too lazy to write a review, but show was great, my neck is sore as hell from headbanging, and Fetus gets an 11/10 just for ending with the combo of "pissing in the mainstream" and "Kill Your Mother/Rape Your Dog". Also for playing my fave song from the new album "Concealed into Enslavement OK PICS time Steve Regan of Annontations Mark Kloeppel of Misery Index Nick from Arsis the legendary John Gallagher during the solo for Your Treachery Will Die with You
i think the basement has the best sound. ive seen like 7 shows in the ballroom, 5 or 6 in the basement, and a bunch in the rave, and ive always thought that bands in the basement have the best sound. ive never seen a band as big as corpse in the basement tho, so maybe that has something to do with why you didnt like it.
Black Breath-awesome thrash band from California I believe, People should really check them out 8/10
Coalesce-Coalesce is one of the greatest bands out there to see live! This was truly live music at its best. Bought the OX album and it's fantastic! 10/10
Converge-3rd time seeing these guys and they are truly one of the best bands in the Hardcore scene to see live. lol Jacob Bannan at one point also decided to stand on top of my shoulders while performing! The crowd was nuts! I got kicked in the head about 5 times and it was a stage diving carnival lol! One of the best shows of the year! 10/10

Would you prefer an 11/10 instead sir? Compared to the mediocrity that opened for them, they were great.
