motorhead had a rough pit when i saw them. i like to get as close to rail as possible and to the side of the pit.

Five Finger Death Punch pits have hit me the hardest thus far.

you might hate them but he's right, the 5FDP show i saw in a small club had the most brutal pit i've seen to date. although having the club full of drunken soldiers who just got back from Iraq might have had something to do with it.
you guys must not get out too often thenm cause i could name 100 bands where i saw more violent pits. Hatebreed definately being one of them.
seen hundreds of bands too, Hatebreeds pits were weak for how much they were hyped on here. just like Slayer, I've seen locals get better pits than them. 5FDP in a small club with a 400 capacity is whole different animal than when they got a huge audience. theres a reason they called it the 5 fiver blood bath back in 07-08

there wasn't even a pit at all for slayer at Scranton, i don't consider 3 people a pit. its hilarious too cuz the KSE pit the set before had almost a 100 people in it

For some reason the kiddies at Mayhem didn't seem to give a shit. Idk what went on in the lawn in Pittsburgh but in the pit it was pretty active. A fight broke out over a drumstick too. You have to go to a show where people go there for Slayer and similar bands to get a better idea of a good Slayer pit

Hatebreed pits are the only ones I've ever been hurt in. Broken thumb once and bruised ribs once.
Ffdp does have some serious pits but I'm not a fan anymore.
I think it depends on what band and when/where you see them. Mrh in Cleveland is crazy but not as bad other places. Log in Philly was way crazier than any other time I've seen them. Wu tang killed the stage in ny but not as good in pgh. Also you can't judge a headlining pit after a festival in the sun all day. See a bands pit on a regular tour before you judge the crowd.

I have some really nice pictures that say different. I have been in pits for tons of bands, now I'd rather watch most of the show, get pics and only go into the pit for songs I really like.

Hatebreed has nothing on Pantera early 90's. The most brutal pit I've ever seen was Pantera, Sepultura, Prong. in 94. Could have been because the Aryan Nations were really going strong back then in this area, and the whole clan showed up for the show. Nasty fuckers.

Although it also could of been Phil tossing out 300+ beers to an all ages crowd for "All you impressionable little teens out there"... Or it could have been the naked chicks they had dancing on the stage?
:-? Might have also just been that everyone was really fucking high....

idk exactly why... but that pit was dangerous. I was lucky I wasnt more injurred then I was.
