I had an awesome time and it was good to meet jay, dayna, brad, Elliot, and chuck (again). Of course the weekend would be the hottest of the year so far and at times it was unbearable but the shade brought some sweet relief.
Saturday
Courtney and I met up with dayna, brad, and jay a couple hours before the show to hang out. Just bullshitted in the parking lot. Unfortunately dayna's car decided to quit on them and that put a little damper on things. To escape the heat courtney and I went in a little before 1 got a spot by some trees and waited for the chevelle signing. Dayna and brad came later and joined us in line while jay hardcore danced to halestorm at the main stage. Meeting chevelle was awesome and thank you dayna for holding our stuff all day. After that we just kind of waited around until chevelle played at 3:40
Chevelle Maybe the best of the weekend for me. They just sounded spot on. It was an awesome way to kick off the show. Dayna, brad, jay, and I all were fairly close to the stage. Was fun but once the crowd surfing started it didn't end until sunday after zombie.
P.O.D We watched them from a far and they sounded awesome. I had split up with everyone toward the end of chevelle so it was just me and Courtney. They were better than expected.
Slash Bored the crap out of me but Courtney enjoyed it
Cypress hill Watched them from a far as well and I was highly let down just because from where I was the sound was terrible.
Five finger death punch Yuck, should have left before them
Before shinedown came on Courtney wasn't feeling good at all so I made her a deal, if she bought me an incubus/ linkin park ticket for my birthday I would have no problem leaving early because incubus is the one I care about seeing not shinedown. She accepted and we left.
Sunday
Met up with everyone about a half hour before going into the venue. We had everyone except for chuck who managed to walk right past us and go into the venue. I thought I saw him but didn't get confirmation from anyone so I didn't yell his name. After we went into the venue he found us we took a group photo before heading over to see trivium
Trivium Was awesome very high energy and was a welcome change from the day before. But even at 1:55 in the afternoon someone was already puking in the pit. They closed with a cover Of creeping death.
The darkness Was pretty damn entertaining. I believe in a thing called love is awesome live. Courtney made me promise to take her to see them if they come back
James durbin Fairly boring but I enjoyed his one single and the cover he did of rainbow in the dark
Volbeat holy hell were they good. Crowd was going crazy for them. Singer even gave some girl money to buy one of their shirts because he saw her smiling the whole time they played. Definitely one of the better Bands this weekend.
Mastodon They were pretty boring to be honest. I hate curl of the Burl and only really enjoyed when they played blood and thunder. Courtney and I had left dayna and brad up front part of the way through their set. We sat to watch the end of the set.
Anthrax We listened to while sitting in the grass away from the stage I thought they sounded good from where I was
Megadeth I enjoyed them a lot better this time then I did last year at mayhem fest. They seemed like they had a lot more energy and I liked the video board they had. I wish I had gone up to the pits during them but we hung back by the sound booth.
Manson The new songs were great live. I was up front with chuck for a while but I wasn't enjoying the set seeing how I had to pass a crowd surfer over my head every few seconds so I went to the back found a spot where could see and enjoyed it from there. He sounded much better then he did the last time I saw him and I cannot wait to see him again. I was glad he kept tourniquet in the set.
Zombie He had said he would bring a bigger show since he can do more at rock on the range however I didn't notice a whole lot different except he had some fireworks at the beginning and a lot of the at the end. He was still really good. I don't exactly thing his vocals are the best live but he is definitely one of the best live stage shows to see. Great way to end the weekend.
When we left I bought a couple bootleg rock on the range shirts for 20 bucks. And left happy.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
Manson was better than in pgh two weeks ago, zombie was better than I expected every other time I saw him it was beat but that was a cool show, cypress was great, pod was as good as I remember them being, chevelle was really good, fuck ffdp, slash was cool to see play gnr shit. Down and incubus were my favorite of the weekend. Incubus blew me away.
Wow you guys even act like children in person
abbafagz cant handle fisticuufz? b-(
I can handle it very well. I would have expected them to argue with me in person but they are friends and still can't get along in person. I do find it so funny how ape talks big shit all the time but got punked/ beat by a little guy. Hey ape maybe you shoulda told brad to calm down little guy lol O and ape if you paid more than $10 for a shirt your dumb and got your head beat twice in one day.
I really didn't have a lot of complaints about the bands I saw with the exception of FFDP, who I don't care for in the first place, and Manson, who was better but I still probably wouldn't pay to see a full set from him. We basically saw everyone we wanted to see. Successful weekend was successful.
