According to The Pulse Of Radio, a source has told MetalTalk.net that the three remaining original members of BLACK SABBATH have recruited Tommy Clufetos, who plays drums in singer Ozzy Osbourne's solo band, to sit behind the SABBATH kit for the foreseeable future. The source added that manager Sharon Osbourne has effectively "fired" founding drummer Bill Ward, who announced last week that he could not participate in the recording sessions or tour plans due to his unhappiness with the contract he was offered.
Ozzy, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler responded to Ward's February 2 statement by saying, "We have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open."
The absence of Ward effectively prevents this from being the full-blown regrouping of the original SABBATH lineup that was first envisioned last year.
A number of SABBATH fans have rallied around Ward and have launched a new Facebook page dubbed "1,000,000 Black Sabbath Fans Say Yes To Bill Ward".
how much does ward, the drummer, really contribute to the songwriting and influence their sound? i dont see it as a huge loss in terms of getting a "true" sabbath record
Killswitch Engage are pleased to announce that they have filled the singer vacancy in the band and they have done so with a familiar face: original vocalist Jesse Leach.
Leach sang on the band's first self-titled album, which came out in 2000, and on their landmark 2002 Roadrunner debut Alive or Just Breathing. Leach left the band in 2002 and was replaced by Howard Jones, but his work on Alive or Just Breathing has always been revered by diehard, longtime KsE fans. Things have come full circle a decade later, and Leach and the band couldn't be more pleased about this reunion.
The band revealed that Leach auditioned for the job he once held and pretty much blew everyone away and then some. The band stated, "After much deliberation and careful consideration, we are pleased to announce that Jesse Leach has rejoined Killswitch Engage. Our job was to find the best person to fill Howard's shoes: a decision based on talent and not familiarity."
The band further said, "Truth be told, Jesse blew us away in auditions. The room seemed charged with electricity. He commanded both new and old material, and proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he wanted to do this. The choice became very clear and apparent."
The band also is psyched to share the news with fans, saying, "This change is very exciting. We know you're going to love it. This is truly a new era in KsE history and it is ready to shred your face off. So, please help us in welcoming Jesse back into the KsE family; he is a rare and great talent, a fact that older KsE fans have known for years. Here is to a killer new record and a bright future. The five of us cannot wait to write this record and play shows together and bring that feeling to our fans. It's been far too long."
The "new" guy himself also commented on his return to the band after a decade-long absence, saying, "It is a great honor to rejoin my brothers after all of these years. After some discussion and much reflection, it was obvious to me this was the path I was meant to take. We got together and jammed on the 'Howard-era songs,' as well as some Alive or Just Breathing-era songs and we all felt the synergy."
He continued, "I look forward to writing the new record, since the demos sound absolutely amazing, as well as breathing new life and getting comfortable with the soulful songs Howard has written. It is a new chapter of my life filled with new and exciting challenges. I will give all that I can to honor the position I have been given and take nothing for granted. I will sing every note with all of my soul. I am very blessed and very thankful to be back in the KsE family! All things happen in their due time and now is the time for this reunion and new direction."
KsE remain hard at work on their latest album, which follows 2009's second self-titled album.
The band will perform at the New England Metal and Hardcore Fest on April 22, 2012. Leach last performed with KsE in March 2010 in New York City, Clifford Park, NY, and Wallingford CT.
Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who has been in a coma-like state since an automobile accident in late-2008, has apparently shown notable signs of improvement in recent days. The following update was posted on Oneloveforchi.com (a Chi Cheng fundraising website):
"Here is a video Juan (Deftones tour manager) sent me of Chi lifting his leg by request. You will also hear momma j encouraging him. It's little baby steps like this that bring Chi closer to recovery. He just has to keep trying and working hard at the little things.. eventually more progress will be made."
Supergroup Adrenaline Mob, featuring the vocalist Russell Allen (Symphony X), guitarist Mike Orlando, drummer Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold), have announced that they’re adding Disturbed bassist John Moyer to their lineup. The four-stringer will be making his onstage debut with the group on March 12, at New York City’s Hiro Ballroom, a day before they release their debut full-length, Omertá.
“Mike Portnoy called me about auditioning for his new band Adrenaline Mob,” Moyer said in a statement. “He had heard through the grapevine that I was looking to stay busy while Disturbed is on hiatus. After jamming with Russ, MO, and Portnoy, the chemistry as musicians was undeniable. I am super stoked about joining ‘The Family’ and I can’t wait to hit the road with these guys and see what kind of musical mayhem we can create!”

Problems seemingly continue for troubled vocalist Jonny Craig. As documented during the last day by or two by Propertyofzack.com, not only is Jonny Craig apparently still using drugs, but he is reportedly in Canada avoiding a warrant for his arrest.
The latest round of drama began when somebody claiming to personally know Craig posted details regarding his continued drug use, including recent photos of Craig using heroin.
Furthermore, sources claim that Craig has been kicked out of Dance Gavin Dance and dropped from the Rise Records roster entirely. Additionally, AbsolutePunk now states that Kurt Travis (ex-Dance Gavin Dance) and Matt Geise (Lower Definition) will handle vocals for Dance Gavin Dance's forthcoming tour.
For those keeping score at home, Craig was accused of scamming fans in February of 2011, checked into rehab later that month, was kicked out of Emarosa last April, and jailed on narcotics charges in October.
"After Mayhem Fest, we’ll probably take some time off,” he said. “It could be a month, it could be a couple of months, maybe even a year… After that time, I’ll be over the immediate grieving process for Paul [Gray, bassist who died in an accidental overdose in 2010]. I’ll never be alright with it, but that’s going to be enough time to get focused.”
As for what we can expect the sound of the album to be, Clown already has a vision:
“The next album, it’s going to be serious. I feel that it will be a lot like Iowa, but it'll be ‘for’ things, rather than ‘against’ them,” he said, “Iowa was against everything, even ourselves. But this next record, this will be for ourselves, for Paul, for his family.”
" According to CBS Cleveland, Derek Brunsveld, the 24-year-old singer of the Dayton, Ohio-based Christian metalcore band LUDLOW FALLS, has been arrested for allegedlyhaving sexwith an underage girl.
Miami County police believe that Brunsveld used his status in the popular group to convince other young girls to have sex with him.
Brunsveld is suspected of using his Facebook and MySpace accounts to contact his victims, who mayhavebeenasyoung as 14 and 15 years old.
Since Brunsveld's arrest on Friday, the other members of LUDLOW FALLS apparently removed him as the lead singer on the band's Facebook page and announced that their March 3 concert will be their last before undergoing a name change.
Brunsveld is in jail in lieuof $10,000bailand isexpected in court later this week.
