well i hope the bill doesnt pass because i dont have a password on my wifi and idk how to put one on
:-)) I use to download all my torrents from places like the bay on my neighbors open wifi. It was funny because I would get purposely download stuff I knew they were watching (like The HurtLocker) simply I wanted to be an asshole and teach them a lesson for leaving their wifi open like that.

they've probably been doing it anyway
yes. They are most certainly already doing stuff similar to this, however they are probably only gathering information on specific topics that they are interested in. I doubt they are doing it on a mass scale, with everyone's info, for 18 months. The good news is that data can't be used in court....
I have no worried over child porn because I dont do that shit. However I could see this being legal and then starting these huge databases and then the MPAA/RIAA pays them to run a few cycles on that database to output the biggest pirates (for example). Since the data gathering is legal, now the RIAA/MPAA has all the ammo they need and you are sunk.
But that is just one example.... this could be done with anything.

right now it isnt, but if they pass the bill and make it law it will be. That is how the government works. New laws supersede old laws and the constitution is nothing more then something to wipe your ass on as far as 99% of all elected officials are concerned.
even IF this law passes a state attorney general could file suit and get an injunction. if this went to the supreme court there's no fucking way it would hold up
