sampling is an element of hip hop because so few of them have the talent to actually make something original
This is my reasoning...which is why I made that comment earlier
But reusing the same riffs or drum patterns throughout albums or songs is original?
there's a level of innate talent that has to be there to actually play an instrument to make those riffs sound right.
what talent do you need to talk to a beat someone else made?
Holy fuck you ignorant fucking retard. You don't realize how fucking hard making beats is. I've been at it for weeks with no success. It's a science in itself. And writing GOOD flows, is very hard. And sampling incorporates all of the elements of making a beat from scratch.
And yes, it is original, taking another piece of Music and changing it around and making it something new and actually making it work takes talent. It made for an amazing beat in The Show Goes On.
If I may interject into this conversation and give my professional opinion. I am a big fan of Electronic bands but I can't wrap my brain around Hip-Hop when sampling is used. In my opinion, it takes far more talent to create a beat from scratch than to use someone else's beats and just mix them. This is why I really enjoy bands like The Prodigy, Combichrist, KMFDM, & Skinny Puppy because they originate.
Yes, obviously making beats from scratch takes more talent
Well my theory is, if you may have noticed, the bands/songs that they sample were at one time fairly popular. So these songs that Hip-Hop artists sample and re-release as their own get popular because it's almost as if the original song is being released again, just under new formatting and it catches on because it's the same song people liked before.

Not true at all. I can't stand the original Float On, but love The Show Goes On. With Stronger, I liked the Daft Punk original, but not nearly as much as Kanye's "Stronger.".

Yeah, some guitarists and bands use the same riffs or type of riffs. Slayer does this quite a bit and the core bands use breakdowns too often. Sure, that's the sighpn of not muvh originality at all but at least they aren't taking somone else's riff and "sampling" it. As for the drum beats I really don't get why this is being brought up since that drums usually follow the guitars. Or (since people argued with me before about the drums following the guitars) the guitars follow the drum beats.

YOU FUCKING RETARD BECAUSE SAMPLING ISN'T A PART OF METAL JUST LIKE BLAST BEATS AREN'T A PART OF HIP HOP.
Holy fuck I can't stand the Metal community. Mentally challenged fucking retards. Sampling takes talent and creativity to correctly do it.
I think it's safe to say blast beats are an unfair comparison to unoriginality. Because that's like saying a band that presses the same key on a keyboard twice is ripping off a band that did it a year ago.

LOL Really now? It's not unoriginal when they're overused on every song on every Death Metal band's albums? GTFO.

I also think it's quite out there to say every Death Metal song has blast beats.

Sorry. 99% of them. Sorry, I was off by 1%.

Lol sure. Because every Death Metal album I've liked this year had blast beats on every song on each album.

Not to mention, the new Anaal Nathrakh uses literally the exact same tremolo riff, exact same 3 notes, in nearly every song.
