this is good. kinda goofy, not in their old freak out way, but its way better than anything off the last album. the percussion in the beginning got my hyped as fuck because it reminded me of "grass" and old feels era drumming, but then it got a little goofy, which is still fine.
Really underestimates the Beach Boys sound. Definitely present. I don't know nearly as much in detail about their sound as you do but I dig it. Not in love with it but maybe with some more listens with the full album later on down the road. Right now I've only really listened to Feels, Merriweather, Fall Be Kind and Centipede Hz in full multiple times. I know most people say Sung Tongs > All but I still haven't really listened
anyway, yeah, sung tongs is incredible, but feels takes the cake for me. that whole era (03-06) is one of the best music sessions of the past 25 years easily. brian said those days are never coming back, though. they had a sound that he said they "couldnt ever imagine revisiting." I know those days were boat fucking full of drugs too.
