Lame. Beautiful background, but way too big, and I'd imagine the sound is terrible with tons of echo.
You are wrong, the sound does not suck. If fact, the sound is the best I've heard in any open air venue, and probably any indoor venue as well (especially of compatible sizes like arenas which suck). Much better sounding then White River Amphitheater (Seattle area), Sleep Train Amphitheater (Sacramento), and Empire polo Club (Indio, CA), and Shoreline Amphitheater (Mountain View CA). The Sound was fantastic for every concert I ever attended there (at least a dozen different shows including a few ozzfests, lolopoluza's, etc)....
And since it is in the middle of Butt Fuck Egypt, everyone typically camps there the night before... Huge bon fires, lots of Kegs, and people getting totally shit faced. Everyone is cool as fuck too, and open their camp site to all passing by.
I havent been to Red Rock or Alpine, but I think either would be hard pressed to top The Gorge. If music is your life, you should make seeing a concert here a check mark on your things to do before I die. And as an additional fuck you... I've included links that rank the top 10 best outdoor Amphitheater's in the USA. Hello- what's this? The Gorge is #1 on every list?
It saddens me that barely any shows go to Alpine Valley anymore. I went there for Ozzfest for 11 years in a row. It's such a cool venue. The Gorge looks badass tho.

Yeah... I've always thought Alpine has to be one of the better Venues. Seemed like they would have a great pit area like The Gorge does, however I've never been able to find good pit area pictures. The pit area is the one thing I think Red Rocks takes a hit on.... It looks like they have no Pit area which has to make rock concerts there suck.
The Gorge has basically no seating. about 30-40 yards in front of the stage is pretty level so the pit is insane..... then after 40-50 yards it starts sloping upwards and has grass to sit on if you don't want to get in the ruckus of the pit.
It use to be located in Marysville CA which I consider Sacramento because Sac was the closest large city to it. At the time, I lived in Roseville CA, and Marysville was just north of me a little bit. However if you go to live Nation they are saying it is now in Wheatland CA? they redrew city lines or something? Well whatever.... the Amphitheater near Sacramento sucked.
