well like you said, theyre songs are very teenagery, the singer could have felt that way when he was a teenager and is expressing himself but he isnt a teenager anymore. that is why i think theyre music cant grow because its all a reflection of feeling instead of how they are changing/adapting over time. or maybe im giving them to much credit lol
it reminds me of green day, back i the day they could write young music for kids that i liked alot. but they eventually got older but continued to write from a teenagers perspective and thats when there music started to really go down hill
I could care less about song structure or music theory. I know nothing about any of that shit. All I care about is what sounds cool to me and what sounds like shit.
I haven't really spent enough time with either Moonsorrow or Amon Amarth to really have much of an opinion from a musical theory standpoint. I think the whole viking metal theme turns me off a little, even though I know Moonsorrow tries to distance themselves from that label. I first impressions of them was positive but that is about all I can really say.
you should give the new album a spin. Huuto is one of trhe most impressive pieces of music i have ever heard
1. Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy The Ocean 2. Pink Floyd Dark Side Of the Moon Money 3. The Beatles Rubber Soul In My Life 4. Billy Joel The Stranger Scenes From an Italian Resturant 5. That is a really good song, but the album as a whole doesn't really do it for me beyond that track. I possibly need to listen to it more, but it's sort of bores me, other than Huuto.

The last two albums have nothing to do with teen angst
they lost sales cause the album sounded like complete shit regardless of how Creative it was
They lost sales because it wasn't HT
If you haven't noticed lately...they abandoned that sound a long time ago. You're acting as if every LP album besides Catalyst sounds like Hybrid Theory. And that is so false
The last two albums were different than HT and Meteora so they saw a drastic loss in album sales
^Maybe. personally I think it was targeted and I doubt he ever had those feelings when he was a kid. I feel like I could write LP songs.
He had a pretty bad life from what I've heard and was raped as a child
looking at stuff through a musical theory standpoint is retarded to me. a songs has gotta have heart and soul for me to like it. johnny cash puts more heart in his three minute 4 chord songs than some of these metal bands 20 min long epics. you cant teach heart on paper just like you cant teach a good song on paper
This is a very good point because these bands aren't trying to be like classical music. Some do that like Wake said COB does and Dimmu does but my point was we can't bring up music theory because most bands do not follow it
Santana is fighting a losing battle on all fronts here. <_>
The only reason I'm losing is because it's 1 against 4-6 people. If I had more people backing me up I'd be winning because most of these arguments are invalid. Some have very good points against me but others shouldn't have even been brought up. I.e.- the music theory argument
So everyone on here doesn't have the exact same taste in music big fuckin deal some of you should worry less about what others favorite CDs are and move on.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!

Still LP doesnt have that heart. It is mass market drivel that was specifically targeted to a specific demographic.
