Selanne is a beast, even at his age. The problem is convincing him to leave a franchise that he's been with most of his career. But it would be awesome.
The Blackhawks put up a 4-spot on the Rangers in the first period.....
Starz got 2nd round pick for 2012 and 3rd round pick for 2013 from Philly today.
Picks aint shit in hockey unless it's the first one...
except Datysuk was picked 171st in his draft and Zetterberg was 210th. so even late round picks can turn into great players. if your rebuilding you try to get as many picks as possible doesnt matter what round stock up on prospects because you never know who will turn into a gem. if your talking trade value then yes 1st round are the only ones worth anything
yeah but datsyuk/zetterberg was fucking luck and good coaching. youre not gonna get NHL ready players who can make any sort of impact out of the first round. Most players out of the first round end up in Russia or the AHL their careers.

You only get one first round pick a year.....where do the rest of the players on the roster come from? They can't all be first round picks. Not every hockey player is a Crosby or Ovechkin. Draft picks do make a difference, especially if you're able to let them develop before coming to the NHL.

basically right now, prolly 75% of our roster were 1st rounders. the others like i said are just good coaching/luck. We got Real lucky with Read this year. My point is getting a 2nd 3rd round pick doesnt really mean shit like it does in the NFL and is nothing to get excited about.
Even your boy Giroux was drafted in 2006. He didn't make the team right away. High round picks are by no means a sure thing. If your team scouts well, it doesn't matter what round it is, you'll be able to find guys to help your team down the road. Lidstrom went 53rd in his year's draft....
2nd and 3rd round picks are nothing to throw a party over. Yes of course if you draft well you'll get good players. I know not every player is nhl ready, but a lot of players out of the first round you won't evenn know if they are ever ready. Some players you know will be stars some need to prove themselves.
Hawks win again today, beating Columbus 6-1. Hopefully after that horrible losing streak they can go on a nice win streak now. The 9 game road trip is finally over too. #:-S

And Zetterberg's been upgraded to a game-time decision. He may play.
