BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that forward Nathan Horton will miss the remainder of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs due to a severe concussion. The injury occurred during the first period of Game 3 of the Bruins/Canucks Stanley Cup Final on Monday, June 6 after a hit by Canuck defenseman Aaron Rome. After the play, Rome was assessed a five minute major for interference and a game misconduct.
The 26-year-old Horton is tied for second on the Bruins in playoff scoring with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists. He tallied three game-winning goals this postseason, including the winners in both Game 7’s the Bruins have played this year, against Montreal on April 27 and against Tampa Bay on May 27. Horton finished his first year as a Bruin with 26-27=53 totals during the regular season.
it was a late check but i don't think it was a dirty hit. shouldn't have been a suspension and its unfortunate for Horton hes a good player but you dont cross the blue line with you head down, you should be aware at all times

and i remember saying that connoly turned his back and I gave the whole player was unaware argument and you said that doesnt matter, richards should have still known to stop going at fucking 50mph on a dime cause connoly turned his back at the last second.
late hit, and if you consider a late hit dirty then it was dirty but had he hit him half a second earlier it would have been a highlight of the night hit
connely was pushed from behind. the most dangerous place on the ice is the "trolly tracks" you dont put your head down when skating over the blue line
connocly was being driven into the boards and decided to turn at the last second which made him go awkwardly into the boards. penalty yes, suspension no. if you want to blame horton for last night you have to blame connoly for what happened earlier, this is not a one way street.
and btw.... Horton had the puck nowhere near him. So why should he expect to be hit to the head unconcious. hedidnt have the puck, he was watching the puck. it was about as dirty as it gets.

It is already universally agreed upon that it was a dirty hit. there is no debate there. Instead of giving him a check to the chest which would have put him on the ice, the dude went for Horton head.

it wasnt whats considered a head hit, it was a north/south hit and at the blue line

"The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury."

you gotta admit though... It was a hell of a game plan for the Canucks. use some bench warmer to take out the Bruins leading scorer. How do you win Stanley Cups? By being better at hockey??? :-)) sucka.

the video is in slow motion so it looks alot worse there but at full game speed it was less then a second after horton passed the puck
its not in slow motion. he watches horton pass the puck, then lays him the fuck out purposely with no puck in sight. the hit is dirty. i dont even think there should be an argument here.
