I don't think the team thought it was offsides. Fans, sure. but not the team. Players are told to play to the whistle, and 3 seconds AFTER the whistle. You don't stop playing because you think it was offsides with 18 seconds left in game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
It was a defensive breakdown because the Bruins were tired and slow. That game should have been 4-1 Vancouver but Thomas was fantastic. The Bruins played pretty poorly, but Thomas kept them in it and almost stole overtime.
