A389 Recordings has confirmed a split 7" with new noise from INTEGRITY and VEGAS, another in the series of split releases in production for this year's Record Store Day, joining the previously announced Full Of Hell/Psywarfare and Noisem/Occultist shared platters.
Leading off Side A is "Love Me," from the subversive VEGAS (funneled from V.ermouth E.quilibrium G.hanoush A.sphyxia S.onata), an enigmatic and potent act which has permeated the planet with a variety of cult releases since their formation at the dawn of the new millennium. Underworld media outlets have assessed the band's output to the hardcore punk advance of Negative Approach and GISM with the antagonism of Midwest metallic hardcore legends INTEGRITY and Ringworm. Madness ensues in VEGAS'crushing contribution to this shared release.
Side B of this joint venture is overthrown by the almighty and ceaseless INTEGRITY, with their latest serving of malice with the "Bedazzled" single. Following the tranquil beckoning lull of the song's intro, hear the crowd go insane for the maximum destruction this latest opus from the infamous Hellion and his present-day counterpart +Orr discharge, the cacophony and tension ever-building until exploding into an energetic outburst of apocalyptic retribution.
Wax-seekers are urged to contact their local participating vinylmongers to secure physical product of the Love Me...I'm Bedazzled Split 7" from INTEGRITY and VEGAS as with all Record Store Day releases. Stay tuned for more on A389's RSD 2014 campaign in the coming days.
AMARANTHE - the modern metal sextet from Gothenburg, Sweden - have confirmed an autumn 2014 release date for their new studio album via Spinefarm Records; as yet untitled, this latest outing will be the follow-up to 'Amaranthe' (2011, now gold in Sweden) and 'The Nexus' (2013).
These two releases, which defined the band's approach through their signature blend of musical styles and voices, caused an international stir right from the start; not only did 'The Nexus' top the rock chart in Sweden, but it went straight to # 1 on the US iTunes Metal Chart as well, whist the videos (from both albums) have continued to clock up millions of views ('Hunger', from Album 1, is now at the 6 million-plus mark).
The success of these records saw AMARANTHE playing to audiences all over the world, and now - following shows across Europe, including an appearance at the Bandit Awards in Stockholm where one of the band's three singers, Elize Ryd, received the 'Rock n' Role Model' Award - the six will head back into the studio.
According to guitarist, Olof Morck:-
"2014 will indeed see the release of the next AMARANTHE record. We don't want to reveal any details yet, apart from this album representing a big step forward for AMARANTHEmusically - where 'Amaranthe' and 'The Nexus' were closely connected, this new album is bolder and more different... but, of course, with the trademark AMARANTHE sound throughout! See you all on tour this spring with our last 'Invincible' shows - and expect blown minds in 2014!"
On April 19thPRONG will release an exclusive 7" single for the "Record Store Day" celebration in the USA with the new track "Turnover" on side A and a Pig Remix of "Revenge Best Served Cold" by Raymond Watts on Side B.
The single is limited to 3.000 copies and comes in green marbled vinyl. The worldwide digital release of this single is April 21st!
PRONG will take care of their European fans by selling this 7" inch single during their European tour that kicks off on March 26th in Essen and ends on April 20th in Stockholm.
But that's not the only treat the band has up their sleeves for their fans.
During the upcoming European tour the first 100 fans to show up at the venue will receive a free 2 track cardboard sleeve CD. This CD contains another new track from the upcoming album "Ruining Lives" and a track from their celebrated 2012 album "Carved Into Stone".
The new album "Ruining Lives" will be released through Steamhammer/SPV in Scandinavia on April 23rd, in Germany on April 25th, in Europe on April 28th and in the US/Canada on May 13th as a limited Digipak version that includes 1 bonus track and a poster, as a double gatefold colored vinyl version incl. 1 bonus track and the CD in cardboard sleeve, as a standard CD version and download.
The list of albums being planned for the 2014 ‘Record Store Day‘
(April 19th) has officially been revealed. Here’s what will be offered
in the metal/rock category, though keep in mind some of the efforts are
region specific to the US and the UK:
ANATHEMA return in June with 'distant satellites', their brand new studio album.
Due to be released on 9th June via Kscope, 'distant satellites' is the highly anticipated follow up to 2012’s Weather Systems, recorded at Cederberg Studios in Oslo, with producer Christer-André Cederberg.
The beautifully ethereal artwork was created by Korean new media artist Sang Jun Too and based around his Distant Light Installation
The band released a statement on their new album:
“distant satellites is the culmination of everything ANATHEMA been working up to so far in our musical path. It contains almost every conceivable element of the heartbeat of Anathema music that it is possible to have.
There is beauty, intensity, drama, quietude, and extra musical dimensions that the band have previously only hinted at. All built on the song writing chemistry of Daniel, John and Vincent ~ and the haunting voice of Lee Douglas.
Vinyl-only independent label, Vinyl Rites, this week releases Released From Love, a fully collaborative recorded effort between THE BODY and THOU.
With three original tracks as well as a harrowing cover of Vic Chesnutt's "Coward," recorded last year with James Whitten and mastered by Machines with Magnets, the entire lineup of Baton Rouge's noise-soaked doom/sludge quintet, THOU, and now-Portland, Oregon-based apocalyptic/experimental doom cult, THE BODY, orchestrate their wretched, noise-drenched tones and horrifying lyrical deliveries into twenty minutes of material through this four-movement mini-LP. On this collaboration, everything comes to its peak. Everyone's voice is heard, through instrument or otherwise, clearly defining their role in the project. All the things that make both groups special are apparent and fleshed out.
Invisible Oranges is now playing the entire Released From Love 12" in its entirety, stating of the opus, "Chip King's distinctive shriek punches through the mire and then retreats; caustic electronic sounds seethe up through seams in the riffage. If these bands were a street-fighting tag team, Thou would be the big hulking dude who occupies your attention long enough for the small, shifty Body to sneak up behind you and jam a knife between your ribs."
Released From Love is a vinyl-only release, pressed on 180-gram black vinyl with heavyweight covers and letter-pressed inserts by Beck Levy. There will be no CD pressing nor any form of digital distribution of the material. Orders for the wax can now be placed HERE.

THOU has been active for over seven years, honing their sound over dozens of releases. Stereogum called their most recent full length, Heathen (Gilead Media), "...dark, bombastic, hugely ambitious album of great sorrow, but perhaps even greater beauty." THE BODY is two men who have been recording, playing, and consuming heavy metal together for most of their lives. Their newest LP, Christs, Redeemers (Thrill Jockey), is so original and devastating that The New Yorker called THE BODY "[One] of the most remarkable acts bubbling up from the extreme-metal underground."
Having already toured extensively together in the past, in the coming months both bands will be playing live in support of the release. On the last day of June, THE BODY and THOU will tour out of Baton Rouge, and up the East Coast, and out to the Midwest playing a wide array of clubs, galleries and DIY venues into the third week of July. On the trip, both bands will perform solo sets as well as collaborative material from Released From Love. While the final details of the tour are still being confirmed, some of its highlights will include a radio set on underground radio station WFMU in Jersey City, and the end goal is a collaborative set from both bands on the opening night of the massive three-day Gilead Fest in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Friday July 18th, alongside Ash Borer, Hell, Inter Arma, Protestant, and Oozing Wound that evening, as well as a set from THE BODY on day two and a set by THOU on the final day, July 20th.
Relapse Records this week unveils the release
details on the highly-anticipated second LP from New York City-based
morbid sludge metal executioners, Serpentine Path.
As with their first album, Emanations was recorded by the band's Jay Newman, after which it was honed to devastating perfection at Audiosiege,
the album capturing forty-five minutes of true sludge punishment with
seven brand new songs from this true underground all-star team. Sure,
the pedigree is undeniable, but regardless of their "members of" status,
Serpentine Path is one of the most scathing sludge acts on the planet.
Emanations
will see parole via Relapse May 27th, 2014 on CD, LP and digital
formats. A new trailer featuring a sample of the audio, as well as the
cover art by in-house Relapse artist Orion Landau and more has been released. View the trailer below.
Emanations track listing:
1. House Of Worship 2. Treacherous Waters 3. Claws 4. Disfigured Colossus 5. Systematic Extinction 6. Torment 7. Essence of Heresy
