Getting Peterson that late would be the steal of the century....
It requires a few things to happen, but I think it's certainly possible.
A few reasons it could...
1. Apprehension over drafting a DB in the top 10. (only Eric Berry, Joe Haden and LaRon Landry since 07) 2. The rise of Cam Newton, Julio Jones and Blaine Gabbert into the top 10. 3. Peterson's low Wonderlic score. 4. The needs of the teams in the top 6. Only true threats are Denver and Arizona. There's a trend towards mocking Peterson to the Browns, but it ain't happening. They're smarter than to take two top 10 db's two years in a row, especially with Julio Jones still on the board.
A few reasons it won't...
1. The fall of DaQuan Bowers and Nick Fairley 2. Peterson is the (near) consensus best cornerback prospect since Charles Woodson. 3. The question marks associated with Newton, Gabbert, Green, Quinn and other top 10 prospects will make teams look for a safer option.
I honestly don't think it will happen, but if it does, the 49ers should run with Usain Bolt speed to the podium with their draft card.
I am in love with Robert Quinn though, I swear. How Von Miller is touted as a better prospect than him is beyond me.

I think the sole reason for that was that he didn't play this year and teams fear a Mike Williams repeat. *shivers*
You see that guy at the combine?
He looked fantastic. Mike Williams was only drafted so high because Millen was the biggest dunce in NFL history. No team had him that high on their draft board.

Yeah, but the combine is not the first thing teams look at when ranking their draft boards. A large part of it is also game film, and they don't have any from him this year.

bullshit....a lot of people thought williams would be gone and thought it was a great pic at the time
There's a reason he was the third WR off the board.

Totally, but Quinn showed he managed to stay in shape in his year off, unlike Mike Williams who ballooned before the combine. He was even considered a tight end on some boards. Stacking up to this year, he and Greg Little (another WR who isn't to be touched with a 1000 foot pole) would be the heaviest WR's at the combine.
What I'm trying to say is that the weight concerns were there with Williams, and they don't appear to be there with Quinn.

williams had the ability...the organization treating him like shit did nothing to help
So did JaMarcus Russell. Doesn't make him anything less than the worst draft pick in history.
Also Jay, on the subject of Quinn not having any film since last season, I'd be willing to make the argument that his film from '09 is better than Von Miller's film from '10.
As long as they're talking, there's hope. Shit isn't going to happen if everyone's sitting on their hands, waiting on a court ruling that's going to be appealed to all hell.

In order of preference.
