today feels so much worse than i anticipated. i can't even turn on the tv or radio. what a miserable season
WTF you talking about..you had a good season just had a bad ending.
in theory, sure. you'd think going 13-3 while making it to the nfc title game would be pretty sweet, but the reality is that i had to sit through an entire season of being told by media on a weekly basis how much the falcons suck and how bad they were going to get killed. every single week. it didn't matter how many teams they beat, there was another lurking around the corner that was gonna knock us off. first it was the broncos, then the chargers, then the eagles (because, you know, they were coming off a bye 8-| ), then the giants. it got old, especially after they won all those games. you had scrub ex-players like trent dilfer talking so much shit you would've thought matt ryan fucked his mom or something. going into both the seahawk game and the championship game, they were dismissed like they were going to lose by 40 points. that didn't happen with either. we scored great on both of their vaunted defenses. hell, if a couple of calls go our way (kaepernick gets a couple of fingers to the face, it's a drive-continueing penalty, but ryan gets drilled 2 steps after throwing a ball and we get nothing. i'm not sure what else navarro bowman needed to do to draw a flag on that roddy white play at the end), we could've and would've won. instead, the douchebag that benched a qb having a great year over a concussion gets rewarded and the franchise that was the 80's-early 90' s version of the patriots gets to go back to the super bowl...again. great. wonderful. i hope everybody is happy now.
That was a huge bullshit call on Atlanta that gave Frisco a first down (the play where he barely touched kapernicks facemask). But you also had a bullshit call go your way. The one where Frisco challenged the catch which was clearly not a catch but the call wasn't overturned. In a nutshell..you guys didn't put them away when you had the chance. You let them hang around and this is what happens.
The loss doesn't bother me all that much, tbh. The 9ers are a great team. They built it right by going defense and o-line first. I'm happy that we took them down to the wire. But that's kind of my point. The Falcons were good enough to push the 9ers and if a couple of things went our way we'd be on out way down to New Orleans. I thought we contained Kaepernick pretty well. We definitely had issues with Davis. You just don't see, say, the Cowboys or Steelers being treated in a similar fashion even though they didn't even make the playoffs. We held our own with the 9ers better than the Packers but the Packers are certain to remain NFL darlings. I guess what bothers me is that so many people really seemed to *want* us to lose and I can't understand why.
i'd make a fat bet that the "49ers fan" was a local, too. the nigs in this area are all fairweather douchebags. it doesn't matter what sport. i had more co-workers rooting for the 9ers yesterday than falcons because "the falcons suck". this really is a terrible sports city
Im glad Baltimore won, however I really hate hits like that where the team not only loses a major player but turns over the ball for a sure-thing TD. I mean losing the dude is bad enough. I wanted Baltimore to win, however not like that.
Clean hit. How would you want them to win? A win is a win
should be a rule that a ball cannot be turned over if the player carrying the ball is knocked out. play should have been dead as soon as Ridley hit the ground.

If I'm being honest, I know exactly how you feel. I was thinking about it yesterday about how similar this Falcons season is to the 49ers season last year. Great team, but no one was giving them the respect they deserve, even after an incredible win in the divisional playoffs. I think the Falcons had a fantastic season, and the more important part is that they took the next step towards being a SB winning team. You can't be disappointed with that. Keep Mike Nolan, build a defense with him there. You'll win.
As for the calls, I don't see how you think the 49ers got more than the Falcons. Kaepernick's hit fits the definition of the rules, which is bullshit, but worse ones have been called before. No way that catch was a catch, clearly dropped the ball. Navorro Bowman was handsy, and admitted so after the game, but I think it was a good non-call. Even if he caught that ball, they would have been short. He didn't run the route deep enough.
By the way, Harbaugh benching the QB that had a great year got the 49ers to their first Super Bowl since the 1994 season. Alex Smith wouldn't have gotten the team here.

oh wow. Patriots really can't win without rule changes these days, can they?
i'm sure you'll be saying something similar after some of the niners key players get injured against the Ravens at the SB
There's no shame in losing the SB at this point. I'll be happy as hell if they win, but I won't be too angry if they lose. Disappointed? Sure, but I'll be having a good time no matter what. Not asking for the league to have a rule change so my fallen dynasty can continue.

perhaps, but it sent a terrible message. this is this reason players hide concussions
...and it doesn't make him any less a douchebag. i mean, why even re-sign smith? if kaepernick was the great white hope, why didn't they just start him from the jump?
Ryan should have never thrown that ball. The dude was triple covered and was 2 yards short of the first down anyway. It wasn't interference either. He needed to look down field.

So...if actively holding the receiver with no intention of catching the ball is not interference, what is?
I'm really not that interested in this argument though. What's done is done. No use crying over spilled milk. Everybody else seems to have gotten what they wanted and I guess that's all that matters.
Here's to another shitty draft position with nothing to show for it <:-P
The defense was really good against a fantastic GB offense especially in the second half and it was great in the second half against Atlanta. They shut the falcons out in the second half and caused two turnovers.
But Atlanta was driving each time and had they been more careful with the ball could have been up by more. They could not cover any one. Didn't they also give up 30 + to Green Bay? They have not played very good the last month. The ravens are all deep playoff veterans. The won't make the same mistakes. The ravens D was hitting so hard yesterday. I think they just want it more and if they play like they did the lat 3 weeks and Sf does the same it will be a 2 touchdown margin

Its how many points you give up not how many yards. And yeah they gave up 31 to GB, but the first TD was on a pick 6 and the last TD was in garbage time after they had been up by 3 scores with 2 minutes left.
True....but the ravens have a pretty good offense to go with there good D that is finally healthy. I don't think the 49ers can give up more then 21 and win
