I enjoyed the movie. Just haven't had the opportunity to watch the others yet. People I work with got pissed off and when we all had a day off made a plan to watch the first one

It was groundbreaking. The special effects, the theater sound, the merchandise etc. The Star Wars universe is huge. It impacted the culture and shaped millions of childhoods. The sum of it is greater than its individual parts. I get that.
Still doesn't make it a great movie. It doesn't hold up to your childhood memories of it. The plot holes have been discussed for years. I love the movies, they're fun as hell, but I can enjoy them without diluting myself as to how good they really are.
I didn't even like them as a kid. And it took years for me to enjoy them especially after having an ex have me marathon them all day including all special features. Now I enjoy them and hope the new ones aren't bad. I won't talk them up though like most people do
