This really has nothing to do with what our country has done in all BS wars though. It's a WW2 thing. That war, even if the reason we were there was wrong, was a war we should have been a part of.
Its a lot more complicated then "I dont wanna do what you tell me, In out of here".
They face court martialing, and could end up fined or in jail. Could be accused of treason or desertion. Could be denied access back home. Like I said, it also sends a message to other nations that we're weak. "Oh the U.S. cant control its military? Might be a good idea to attack now".
There is a lot more to it than an individual opinion or philosophy when you join a group.
I know a couple dudes who are in the military just cuz they didnt know what the fuck to do right out of high school. Some people join cuz its one of their only options. My friends family was poor as fuck so theres no way they were sending him to college and he hated his job so he joined the army cuz they would give him food and a place to live.

You think I don't know that? I didn't say they went awol or anything. They laid low and played along until they could gtfo. And they actually move you around to different bases if you don't listen in hopes someone can make you learn. You don't have to agree with everything they're doing, but you don't have to be a mindless sheep either.

I was addressing Nola, not you. I think we're on generally the same page here
Seems like people should get mad if they were desecrating the memorial or something. Like had dudes fucking the soldiers or have them sucking dick. It's just an iconic avatar for overcoming adversity that's been reappropriated for this cause. Don't get it twisted: The people angry about this have a political agenda and they're just baiting their base. I doubt most true soldiers give a fuck. I know the military people I've known have little political agenda. They're usually more interested in things like guns or military strategy. I think they get used politically the same way brilliant scientists and engineers are pimped by corporations.
I think it's sad that politics have devolved here into being a situation where there are just certain things people are almost supposed to be mad about. Specifically, I highly doubt most of the politicians making a lot of fuss give any real fucks about any of this. They just have the Christian base to appease. Their leaders are just milking it as well. Then you get down to the common bro and most of them have a gay cousin or classmate of something and they really wouldn't give a fuck if it wasn't manipulated upon them by the two tiers of huckster above them that they're listening to. When you ask people plainly, in confidence, how they feel about things and then have civil discussion about it, most people will feel very similarly about most topics. We go through it at work all the time. It's likely that most of the people you ever work with have a differing political opinion. Is work a war everyday? No. Some jobs I've had the people I've hated the most are the ones I knew had the closest political leanings to me. But if you look in a newspaper, that's our dividing line. That's what's made important. They do constant polling for news resources to see what peoples political feelings are. What politicians approval ratings are...How people feel about some judgment...How people feel about ongoing political tools like global warming and abortion. They don't ask people how happy they are. It's all just manipulated bullshit. Divide and conquer. Keep people mad about manufactured shit and take advantage. The same guys that argue through tv are on the golf course together the next day. Same as back when they were frat brothers. Debate club on steroids.
