The rest of the jobs wages dont increase, and the cost of living goes up. Sure its nice if you're working a dead end Dunkin Donuts job, but the skilled workers get hit. Instead of raising the minimum wage, they should encourage education and lower taxes. Working McDonalds is a job designed for high school kids who need spending money or are raising a little money for college. Its not designed for people to raise a family off of. What you do when you increase the wages, you're effectively turning those jobs into life careers. This hurts educated and skilled jobs, as well as eliminates a teen work force. All while raising the cost of living.
Interestingly the minimum wage in Tennessee is only $7.25, but there is no income tax.
The thing I disagree with you most on is that you didn't take it far enough.... Our society shouldnt just encourage education, Education should be free. If someone in our society wants to spend time and effort trying to educate themselves, government shouldn't give them a 100k bill on that education. Society benefits greatly from educated people, and so you don't need to handicap people at the start of their life like that. It's wrong.
> WA state current minimum wage is 9.32 > Voted to raise to 15 > Legalized weed > Championship Football team
Why are you living in Milwaukee again? Oh that's right...
> parents basement.
Have to admit Washington is kicking ass rn.. Too bad they still live in a shit rain kymfs cloud 24/7
Forgot to add, No state income tax, super low property taxes, super low DMV taxes...
On the negative side - Roads and public schools (minus Universities) are underfunded and shit.
And to counter your weather comment. Pretty much wrong. For starters if you lived in Spokane then you'd have 4 seasons, and would see rain less than you probably see now. If you lived in seattle then Yes from Oct-March it rains probably 60% of the days between those months. However snow is not likely... And from May-Sept it hardly ever rains. You will have like maybe 5-10 rain days total during those months. When I lived there I road a motorcycle, but wouldnt ride in the Rain or snow. Anyways, I rode my motorcycle twice as much in seattle as I do In Rochester NY
Lastly.... If I was going to Move to WA with the goal is minimizing taxes... I'd move to Vancouver WA. Not only do you have all the positive tax benefits that I previously mentioned, but when you wanted to buy shit you could drive across the bridge into Portland and buy your shit with no sales tax.

I guess I sorta implied the gov paying for school with "encourage". I'm on the fence about it being free. I think it should be a lot cheaper. But I do think the teachers deserve a good pay, especially given how much schooling they have to put in themselves (same with doctors, I understand why they cost so much. Because they're in school forever. Still wish it was cheaper, but I understand) and I don't really know what they'd make if school was free for everybody.
The gov should at least provide more scholarships or whatever though.

No argument there. As far as I am concerned if you are trying to compare doctors to teachers, Doctors save our present, Teachers save our future. The impact a good teacher has on our society is exponential, where the impact a good doctor has is one person.
