From what I understand, it started as a movement to preserve journalistic integrity and stop corruption in videogame journalism. Then Zoe (a radical feminist) turned it into an attack on women, and a plethora of other radical feminists jumped onto it (seriously fuck radical feminists and SJWs) and turned it into a sexist mysoginistic movement...
and yet there are women, gay, trans, black, white, male, etc people on the side of GamerGate. So I fail to see how its sexist.
The death and rape threats, I agree went too far though.
The catalyst was a story that this Zoe Quinn cheated on her boyfriend and had sex with 5 game execs to get her game (she seriously only made one game, and it was a visual novel) developed, and receive better scores. This started a huge uproar over the journalistic integrity of gaming magazines and websites.
Then she took it as an attack on women in gaming, and turned it into an anti-feminist movement.
Both sides are extremely biased, and finding objective information is near impossible. But after watched those vids I posted above, I'm leaning more on the pro-GamerGate side.
Holy shit Cry of Fear's Nightmare mode raped my anus. I usually jump right into the hardest difficulty in games, but I'm going to have to play through lower difficulties for this one.

I saw the article, but didn't read it. Read it now. Like I said earlier, both sides are so biased, I can't get an accurate interpretation of what is really going on. She says one thing, the commenters on that same article say another. Then there's all the infighting within the comments. The people in the videos I posted say something. Other commenters say otherwise. Its all a mess.
I do know this though: This should never have become an issue of sexism or feminism. And the death and rape threats should never have fucking happened.
I will say Cracked has lost me lately with their posts. I really only pay attention to their joke articles and geek facts articles now.
The whole gamergate thing seems stupid to me. Its just such an ugly mess. Its the video game equivalent to Occupy Wall Street. A lot of grubby people are angry about... something, but aren't expressing it worth a shit or in any productive manner.
Video game journalism is as big of a joke as MMA journalism is anyway.
I agree with you up to the videogame journalism being a joke. Reviews, previews, and development coverage are an important part of the gaming industry.
It is, but the "journalists" aren't really in a position to be 100% honest with their readership. You can talk agood game all day long, but you need these game companies to be available to you to continue your business model. For example, if you rip Ubi or another company a new one for serving up a hot pile of dishing and calling it the most amazing game ever *cough watch dogs cough* then you can bet that you wont be getting access to their next pile of shit because you didnt toe the line. If you want the most access you have to spew the company propaganda.
I also brought up mma because Dana White is the king of this.
Agreed with Jobe. Just look at the amount of dicks all these reviewers suck calling Call of Duty the greatest game of the year all the fucking time because the support of that company is way to big to lose. Im sure if they ripped it a new one, Activision or whoever wouldn't be patting them on the back going "It's cool guys. No worries."
Isn't that the point of the Journalistic integrity aspect of GamerGate though? To try and change these journalists from accepting bribes and giving reviews that don't really equate to the game quality?
