Why's that weird? Lots of people have Rats for pets. I can understand the initial hesitation as I felt that way too... But like most things, that reaction is more a reaction to what you don't know. Rats aren't the worst pet you can have. you gotta admit the rat picture i posted above, the guy looks kinda cute.
Ratz carry diseases
all animals carry diseases. cats, dogs, mice, rats, etc... It doesnt matter. But typically when an animal is a pet, you have an owner that is taking care of them such that they are disease free. Im no more worried about my daughters rats having a disease than I am the family dog having one. My pets are well cared for.
