'Surprise independent 'Nuts' gets 9 percent in presidential poll'
(RNN) - Call him Deez. Or her Deez. Is "Deez" a gender-specific name?
Public Policy Polling, a real polling firm, released its report Friday on the presidential race in North Carolina. It stated an unknown independent in the race was on the verge of breaking into the double digits.
"Finally another declared independent candidate, Deez Nuts, polls at 9 (percent) in North Carolina to go along with his 8 (percent) in Minnesota and 7 (percent) in Iowa in our recent polling," PPP stated. "Trump leads Clinton 40/38 when he's in the mix."
Nuts' base appears to trend liberal.
The company appears to be in on the joke. Either that or it's a pretty severe hack by a pollster on his last day at work.
Question 31 of the poll asked 957 voters from Aug. 12 to Aug. 16 whether they had a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Nuts. Nuts got a favorable rating from 6 percent, unfavorable from 13 percent and 81 percent were "not sure."
They were asked specifically to choose from Clinton, Trump and Nuts on Question 32.
The margin of error is plus or minus 3.2 percent.
PPP's Twitter noted the candidate got "pretty consistent support" in a tweet Friday.
It also retweeted multiple people referencing Nuts.
"@ppppolls is doing the people's work by continuing to poll on independent candidate Deez Nuts," Meredith Shiner wrote.
