It's odd. I'm on a huge Black Metal kick right now. Metalcore is the farthest thing in my mind right now.
I never would have guessed...
Been listening to Dark Funeral, Watain, Dimmu Borgir, Triptykon, and Shining.
I love Shining's genre, anyone know of any other Depressive/Suicidal Black Metal?
I don't really consider Triptykon black metal, or Dimmu Borgir good. Regardless, good to hear.
Shining from Sweden or Norway? Either way, I wouldn't consider them to be depressive in the way I think of it (ie Katatonia). The latter wrote Blackjazz as an attempt to characterize their sound, and you won't hear much similar to them. Sweden Shining. The former are a band that I don't appreciate, so I can't really offer more than a general black metal recommendation.
They're literally all about Suicide and depression. They encourage suicide in the Music actually. But I love how dark it is, the Music itself gives me this really depressed and ominous feeling, and Åttiosextusenfyrahundra brought a tear to my eye just by the feeling of the Music. It's depressing as all Hell, but I like it for some reason, and I wanna find more bands from the genre, as Suicidal/Depressive Black Metal is a real genre.

I don't really hear it. Nothing the way Dance of December Souls does.

What do you mean by real genre though?
Meaning it's a real genre....like, it's not just a stupid term like Sumeriancore, for instance. It's a real genre, and is different in feel and Musicianship compared to regular Black Metal. Just like the differences between Death Metal and Melodeath.

Hey there, sumeriancore is a real genre.
Different feel? Sure. But dramatic differences in musicianship qualities? Probably not.
Niklas Kvarforth is now my new hero. He's such a fucking heartless asshole and I fucking love it. He's exactly like me. The end of Part 1 and beginning of Part 2, listen to that, that's EXACTLY me, in every single fucking way, except I no longer have anyone to love, but, whatever.
Wow....this is so beautiful. This seriously just made me zone out. The further I dive into DSBM, the more blown away I am. This could end up being one of my favorite genres.
