I thank my psychiatrist for my knowledge on human feelings, LOL! Seriously, I don't know what I would do without that guy. It's a shame so many psychiatrists get such a bad rap. That dude completely turned my life around.

I was only called ugly in middle school....and I'm sure it continued in HS but I never heard about it lol. The thing that pisses me off the most is people using me, taking me for granted, standing me up, lying ect. Doesn't matter who you are that shit gets old
As long as you are confident in your appearance. And sorry if the last post I just made doesn't apply to you, I was just giving an example of what low self esteem of any form can do to someone.

I don't understand how these guys can use you like this. Do you just not see the signs until much later or is it something else?
They know I'm nice and understanding...plus I can take a lot of shit. They think they can do whatever they want as long as it makes them happy or it doesn't effect them. I also give people chances even though I'm sure most don't deserve it. It's just the person I am. If I had a car I'm sure it would happen more often. I also fucking hate it when old friends and friends think they can get in my pants. Sorry, I'm not a piece of ass either...or a trophy girl to make youself look better, a fail safe incase you don't find someone better, ect.

I have really bad self esteem issues as well, a lot of it stemming from my skin as well. I'm still trying to get over them. Sadly, I've gained weight over the past few months, which I'm not happy about and I have to fix. I'm not really good when it comes to interacting with other people, but I'm trying to work through it. I live in my head too much for my own good.

Why do people (especially women, I've noticed) tend to think that pretty women are stupid?

And I seriously think you need to make a checklist for your ideal partner. Good men really respect high standards, and that doesn't mean appearance. It should include things like if they're going to school, what kind of job they have, what their life goals are, etc. Even if a guy you're interested in seems to match you so well, you really need to factor in marriage material. Not that you need to plan on marrying someone right away, GOD NO. But looking for strictly marriage material would help in eliminating men who aren't good for you.

Hell, as pathetic as I used to think this is, I found my current boyfriend on a dating site. So easy to pick and choose people, lol! I was originally doing it for shits and giggles (I hadn't been on a date in literally YEARS and never got out with my ex. I would just drink a 4loko alone in my room while he went to a friends house when he got bored with me, lol) but actually found someone who is so similar to me it's scary (but awesome). Don't get me wrong, I don't think "OMG HE IZ TEH 1 4 M3!!!!!", but things have been going well so far. I think getting out and going on a few dates, even if you find out later the guy isn't your type, might be good for you. You need to be treated like a lady once in a while. :)

I gained a lot of weight over the past year as well. It was little devastating for me to go from a size 0 to a size 7 or 8. But you have to learn to be comfortable in your own skin. And if you aren't comfortable with your weight, cheer up and remember how easy it is to lose. Currently, I haven't been exercising because it's so damn HOT, lol.

And as much of an opposite I am from how I used to be in high school, I still have problems interacting with people, too. God, in college it blows my mind that people actually start conversations with ME instead of me trying to awkwardly start a conversation with someone in class, and don't even get an acknowledgement of my existence, haha!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I found marriage material once but we both were too young and a few years later died in a car accident (I was 15, him 17). I thought I had found that again but I guess I was wrong. I'm done for at least 10 years at the minimum. And I have not a clue why people think good looking women are stupid, because I know I'm not...unless it's math. I suck at that shit

Can we add: spent time in jail, on probation, into domestic violence, lives with his mom, etc to your check list of things to deny their application?

I have to find a something to keep my breakouts away. I went from a size 6 to a size 8/9, which I know isn't bad because I'm tall, but I need to tone that shit up. I need to find someone to work out with on campus.

Also, RU is a very social school to the point where it's maddening. If it wasn't for the radio and me getting an apartment instead of a single room, I wouldn't interact with anyone outside of class. I'm still getting over the speech problems I have from my surgeries.

Oh my god, that is so sad. I have a friend who went through the same thing around that age. The person he really loved died in a car accident as well right after she had moved to London. I can't imagine how terrible that must of been for the both of you.

I don't think you should call it quits. Sure, enjoy single life for a LOOOOOONG time, but it's fun to just date around. There's got to be plenty of guys who would love to buy you dinner or take you out somewhere nice. Doesn't mean you have to commit to them, just have your fun. :3

Domestic violence? And you people seem to forget that I knew what he wanted to do. And just because you spent time in jail does not mean they should just be overlooked...unless it was for murder, homicide, ect. Probation is the same shit. And I'm going to be living with my parents for a long while...and while in school it's smart to live at home. I get what you're trying to say but I'm not the kind of person that would like a person, find out they're on probation and be like "oh well"

THIS. THIS SO MUCH. Holy shit, ladies, from experience NEVER date ANYONE who has been to jail before or is on probation. I don't care if "OMG BUT HE'S CHANGED". No, he's not. He's going to be a lowlife scumbag who will make your life a living hell. They need to have their own place, their own car, their own school funding, etc. unless their parents can afford these things for them, yet they still work hard at a job and have REAL life goals like completing college and getting a career to benefit society.

disclaimer: If they were in jail for something like, a speeding ticket for two days or something like that, it does not count.

Usually a girl doesn't find out the person they like is an asshole until months later. Can't judge a book by it's cover, you have to read what's in it for a while

a lot of time the cover tells you a whole lot about what the book is like. :-))

You are absolutely correct with this statement. I just personally think that things like being in school, having a life goal, good job, own place, etc. really help you weed out more douchebags, you know?

And in that other comment I really wasn't picking on Marc. I was describing my ex, haha. If it happens to describe him, then that's fine. I just want to make it clear that I don't know him at all and I wasn't picking on him. :)

    I was just sayin' haha

And I get what Wake is trying to say but I don't judge people like that. I'm not going to explain all this shit in detail because I don't feel like it but just because someone fucked up once doesn't mesn they should be swept to the side...I'm not that kind of person. Even when it comes to friendships...I know enough people that have been in jail and on probation. Could be me too, you never know. Weed is illegal but that doesn't mean imma stop smoking it

yeah... I have no problems judging those books by their cover. Dont want drug addict to be the mother of my kids... I'll date alba. Book cover successfully judged.
