A couple days ago it was making a noise. Like a rumbling. But it was handling fine. So we're like "ok we'll make an auto appointment for Friday and take it in to check out the sound"
Yesterday the car was fine sans noise.
Today, the car is rumbling a shit ton, and the wheel was all shakey. Got home from work and I'm like "yea, the car is getting worse. There isn't just a rumble the whole car is shaking".
So me and my dad looked at the car. On the driver side wheel three lugnuts were loose, one lugnut was stripped, and the fifth lugnut was broken off. So we tightened the three, and brought it to the mechanic's lot so he can look at it tomorrow.
No idea how it happened. I didn't hit anything lately, nor run anything over. Only thing I can think of is strain from the construction.
When they go, they start with noises like you described initially, and is worse at some speeds than others. When they get worse you get more vibration and shaking. The bearing is the hub assembly that holds the lugs, so those will get replaced anyway, no need to put new lugs in.
Yeah, the cavalier had the same issue recently. You couldn't tell until you were going 60+ on the highway. Never been a fan of that car, but at least it's in good enough shape to get to the places you need to be
It's routine maintenance, they just crap out eventually, so there isn't any fault on anyone, as far as parking, driving, hitting curbs etc.
$50 -$150 for the part, depending on the vehicle, and an hour or so for labor. 30 minutes to do it yourself, with the right tools (sockets, wrenches, one big socket for the axle nut is the only uncommon size needed)
Tie rods may also need replacing, followed by an alignment.
That good for the life of your tires, but has no impact on the bearing.
Unless...., How long ago? If recently they may have just not tightened the lug nuts enough. And if you have aluminum rims, your supposed to recheck the torque on the lug nuts after so many miles (50 I think)
Probably not a factor then. And they would have noticed if the tie rods were bad at that point by the tire wear. Either way, a new wheel bearing will most likely take care of it.
I learned 7 songs in three days, had a jam session with them and it was awesome. Even said they thought i improved a couple of the songs. Then we went to the False/Landbridge show last weekend, and they kept trying to gave me get drunk with them. I eventually had two shots but that's it, wasnt interested in getting drunk. Then they decided to pull out a decent size bag of pot, and a smaller one of crystal. Spent the better part of an hour pestering me to partake, i wasn't interested. Told me last night that i was great, learned everything etc, but they dont feel "-comfortable" doing that stuff with me there if i won't partake. Fucking stupid bullshit, but whatever.
