Hey, instead of thanking God you got the RA spot, why not give yourself a pat on the back for being a good dude and interviewing well? I'll never understand some people...
It just bothers me when people don't see they can do things on their own. I mean, in the end as long as it's good things happenings, whatever, but people should give credit where it's due, and in a lot of cases, it is in themselves.

Yup. I guess they're giving God thanks for the motivation to work out or the confidence during the RA interview. But like you said, as long as the results are working out for them it's a-ok

The part they don't like about that is the "give yourself" a pat on the back. They don't want to be self-gratifying, so they thank God for it.
This was the opening part of the review for Whirr on my school's news site:
"Whirr tried to ignite the Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio crowd, as the metal/hard rock band came out onto the stage with an intriguing light set, yielding six talented musicians"
The reviewer also went on to also complain about inaudible vocals during their set lol
The 22-year-old San Jose, California band, Sleep, awakened the night with what seemed like 10-minute straight whammy-bar action for the Guitar Hero addicts out there.
Matt Pike was first to begin his long riffs while shirtless while the vocalist and bassist, Al Cisneros tested the power of the speakers. “Rock on” symbols overwhelmed the first row as their mouths dropped open as the three guys took a bite out of everyone’s eardrums. Constant homogenous playing commenced until the trio took a break to say, “thanks Denton.”
These were men of very few words until Cisneros did a quick shout out to the audience. Cisneros, Pike, and the drummer, Jason Roeder began to rock out with lyrics. Finally. The vocals were muffled and unrecognizable, but it added a necessary layer Dow substance. They began to rock.
While the band obviously laid the foundation and catalyzed the heavy metal movement of the ’90s, it is now 2013. There’s no point in relying on that. That’s cute, but living in the past is comparable to a middle-aged man reminiscing about his football days.
They were nice and definitely rocked the crowd, but Queens of the Stone Age or System of a Down would have been a better hard rock headliner."
