Mind if I see the format as well?

Every job I've gotten I've gotten through networking, so I've never really been in a situation where I've had to have a killer resume look.

Every job I've gotten I've gotten through networking, so I've never really been in a situation where I've had to have a killer resume look.

Every job I've gotten has been the opposite. I've submitted my resume and a cover letter targeted at the job of interest without knowing anyone. I used a professional resume service a while ago that helped me develop a perfect resume. My call back rate is about 75%, and of those that call back securing a interview is probably around 90%. The other 10% is typically due to their job need not lining up with what I am looking for.

Networking is a great way to get a job, however if you have the right experience then that can speak for itself.

that style of resume is actually highly approved of. people like white space, clean cut, easy to read. not to say the style you use isn't approved of because obviously it isn't, but your style isn't the only one employers like to see.

It actually depends on the position he is seeking and the experience he has. If you dont have the experience you obviously dont want to rabble on and on about bullshit. But if you have specific experience that is relevant for this position you are applying too... make sure it is detailed and to the point. My resume is 3 pages, mostly filled. But I would also be applying for a very senior position and so that is required.

I'm a little late to the resume party, but I'd like to throw in my two cents. Just to give you a background, I happen to be pretty good at writing resumes. A marketing teacher I took for several classes (5-6 to be exact) recommended me on my campus to the English department that ran a Resume Help Center and they approached me to bring me on board. I accepted and gained valuable experience communicating with employers to gain their thoughts on resume formats, hot words to use to describe your roles, what is too much or too little, etc. My resume has essential fucked me at times because I've lost count of the "over-qualified" excuse I've been given but it has been given praise due to format and thoroughness.

That being said, I think everyone is right in some sense here, but Jobe (in my opinion) was the most for the following reason: All of us here are about at that point where we are leaving behind the fast food, the grocery store, etc. and are going to pursue a CAREER. His example of how it will look in a stack of others hit it on the head for a CAREER position you seek. Without beating around the bush, that resume does not stand out and is too cookie cutter. I'm sure Rex put effort into it, but for a big time job, employers will shit on that resume due to it's more fill-in-the-blank approach and lack of creativity that sets you apart from anyone else. Not to be negative, but it's too obvious you used a standard template and choose not to add anything different to it. Add that in with the errors and this resume is bound to end up in the recycle bin fast.

Dayna also is right as well. While I found the number to be low (and growing ever lower due to the over-competitive times), some employers don't want a fancy show. They want their stuff straight to the point. Simplicity is a good thing, depending on the job you go for. Flashy can be just as negative as is being too plain. Looking back at the jobs Rex said he is going for, I still wouldn't recommend this style. I'd spice it up a bit. Remember, you're grabbing the attention of somebody who does this for a living. They see enough resumes a day. How will you differentiate yourself? Jobe isn't making up shit when he says employers will tl;dr resumes. It happens daily. Make your resume scream "AYO DOE, FLOCK TO ME LIKE THE BITCHES AT THE WOLFGANG SHOW".

Lastly, I really don't know what it is like in Michigan for you guys. I can only vouch for Chicago. What has applied for me and many others here may be 180 for you guys. Just my 2cents. Best of luck, Rex.

Only reason relapse is pissing me off is they have already charged my card for the CDs. But they haven't even shipped them or anything. My card was charged days ago

email them and demand a refund or a tracking number. If they don't do either then contact your credit card company to get your money back.

i had a friend order some merch from the kill rock stars website. after a while, she got pissed that they hadn't sent her shit out and sent them some nasty emails. someone from the label started emailing her, fighting back. it turned into a bit of a war. anyways, it turned out that the person that was responding to her was tobi vail, drummer for bikini kill...the band that she was buying merch from. it ended up ending pretty well. tobi ended up signing all the gear before sending it out and put her on the guest list for a show. it's just kinda crazy how it all went down

I have found talking with a live customer service rep achieves more results and quicker results than an email where they can dick you around a little more.
