Pretty sure I listened in on the major spoilers of the movie. I've only seen one movis but I know enough characters by name to get it for the most part. Sounded like a neat but not entirely unpredictable plot from what the little bit I know/heard.
Just sayin, there are quite a few negative reviews. A bunch of 10s and a bunch of 4s
Do you understand how averages work?
The majority of plebs aren't judging objectively, and are riding the hype and nostalgia trains. Read the reviews. A lot of StarWars hardcore are saying negative things about it.
Those are the people I care about. Not casuals who'd like anything that came out, even if Jarjar himself starred.
And note: I actually like the prequel trilogies for what they are. I feel like they can stand on their own aside from being tied to the orig trig.
I dont feel that same way from what Ive gathered so far about the new one. Its completely riding off people's nostalgia and nothing more. I've straight up heard it referred to as a "reboot of episode 4, right up to the cantina scene". Thats not what Im looking for personally.
I'll tell you my thoughts when I see it. But remember the prequel trilogy met good reviews as well when they first came out, and then people starting nitpicking. I forsee the same for these in the future.
Also there is no aggregate average score given by users on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes. But there are a lot of negative reviews in with the gush.

R Those arent the people I care about. I care about the hardcore fans that went in not already judging the fuck out of it. A lot of the "hardcore" SW fans giving it a bad review are the ones that were already calling it shit and went on a bitch fit about a black stormtrooper.
Movie was nostalgia porn alright but for a good reason and the movie sets up and establishes the new characters in such great ways. Finn was amazing and I fucking fell in love with Rey's character. Future is promising for the franchise. Can't wait for part 8.

Metacritic has just about as many mixed/negative reviews as positive.
