Slipknots first two are metal classics. The overall angst and anger is what made Slipknot who they were. People=Shit, (sic), Surfacing, Everything End, The Heretic Anthem...ect...thats what Slipknot IS. Vol. 3 was good too, just not as good as the 1st two. While i wouldnt say i HATED AHiG (Gematria, Sulfur, All Hope is Gone, Psycosocial, This Cold Black, Wherein Lies Continue, and Butcher's Hook were pretty good), i sure didnt like it as much as Iowa or the s/t...Dead Mems, Snuff, Gehenna, was NOT SLIPKNOT. It was Stone Sour. Slipknot is supposed to be the Pissed off, psycotic, middle finger to everyone band, and that wasnt there with AHiG. All i hope is that the new one sounds older, (i would be happy with a Vol. 3 sound) and not like Stonesour.
i know most of you dont like Slipknot, but the first two albums are just as much as classics as Master of Puppets, Peace Sells, Vulgur Display of Power, Tomb of the Mutilated, Chaos A.D., Number of the Beast, Burn My Eyes, Under The Influence, Reign in Blood, (and what ever else metal classics are out there) are.

More than a year ago, but yes, I'll admit I was gay for them at one point. My Musical tastes have matured though. Metalcore also used to be my favorite genre. Death Metal and Thrash Metal hold that title now though.
Personally i like it when bands vent all their rage and hate into their music (like Slipknot used to do). When they say "yea we're maturing musically" thats usually a sign of them selling out and becoming softer.
