Utley will be out for a while, Rollins, Blanton and Lidge are iffy, Werth is gone, i heard Ben Fransisco will be missing some time, Placido Polanco is nothing special, Raul Ibanez is almost 39, coming off a very off year for him, Howard can hit the HRs, but where will his RBI come from if nobody is one base? Everyone knows he can't hit for AVG, Shane Victorino is seriously overrated, Carlos Ruiz is an average MLB catcher, all they really have is pitching, which is going to bankrupt them in a few years, their bullpin is unpredictable.
Utley will be aout for a while, but he'll be back, it's March. we dont need him right now to win. <_> Rollins was an MVP 3 years ago, Blanton is a solid starter and Lidge is a solid close, and they both have rings. Polonco is always on base and had our best average of anyone last year Ibanez was 38 last year and hit over 30 HR's. Victorino gets on base, that's all that counts and he comes through in the clutch. Carlos Ruiz is way better than the average catcher when it comes to defense, he may lack at the plate a little, but always comes through big time in the playoffs, and btw they both have rings. Valdez and Francisco have been 2 of the best bench players on any team for us the pas t 2 years. and lets not forget mayberry and brown, 2 great up and coming players. Their bullpen is fine, they have a great staff with Baez, Conseco, Madson, and Lidge. and dont forget, with their starting pitching, they wont have to use the bulpen as much so these guys are gonna be well rested.
The Braves have the second best starting pitching in the NL, thry have the best catcher and second baseman in the NL, We have 3 all star capable outfielders, 2 incredibly young and talented closers in Craig Kimbrel and Johnny Venters, along with a solid bullpen, we even have a great bench, not to mention our up and coming star 1st baseman Feddie Freeman, i think the Braves will do great this year, and Chipper is in his best form since 2006.
This is the part where you went FULL RETARD. 2nd best pitching in the NL? put the fucking crackpipe... Phillies, Giants, Reds, Rockies, all have better starting pitching. the best second basemen in the NL, GTFO man, doe the name Utley ring a bell if you think Uggla is better than Utley, something is wrong with you, you have to stop kidding yourself? great bench? great bullpen? i never heard of any of those guys <_> your starting pitching is old and it will show through the year. you have a few gem young players, but nowhere close to actually competing. and btw, Jones is done, Best form? he's just gonna get injured again, and if he doesnt he'll have another below average year. dude youre obviously delusional for your team, they have no shot aginst the phillies bro, if youre still around in a few months i'll try not to rub it in your face how ridiculosly you used to talk. also, your great manager is gone, theres gonna be some changes and they moght not come easy. man, i thought the mets fanse were delusional, you absolutely insane. Braves wont even make the playoffs, the wild card will come from the central, sorry bro, maybe next year <_>
"Rollins was an MVP 3 years ago," - BUT HE DIDN'T DESERVE IT.
"Blanton is a solid starter and Lidge is a solid close" - Both are good players, but are unpredictable, they could have a very good year, or they could suck.
" and they both have rings." - Who gives a fuck?
"Ibanez was 38 last year and hit over 30 HR's." - Dude, Raul Ibanez had 16 HRs in 2010....
"and btw they both have rings." - Again, doesn't count for shit.
"they have a great staff with Baez, Conseco, Madson, and Lidge." - A VERY iffy bullpen.
"and dont forget, with their starting pitching, they wont have to use the bulpen as much so these guys are gonna be well rested." - I'm not going to deny they have a great starting rotation, but as much as they are paying, where will that leave them in 4 years? --------
"2nd best pitching in the NL? put the fucking crackpipe... Phillies, Giants, Reds, Rockies, all have better starting pitching." - You seriously underestimate Jair Jurrjens and Tommy Hanson, just like everyone else, along with Tim Hudson and Derek Lowe, and i am more than sure Mike Minor can win 10+ games for us, and for a 5th starter that's not bad.
"he best second basemen in the NL, GTFO man, doe the name Utley ring a bell if you think Uggla is better than Utley, something is wrong with you," - I am not talking about career wise, I'm talking about 2010 and afterwords.
"great bench? " - Erick Hinske, Jordan Schafer, Brooks Conrad and Joe Mather? Come on, that's pretty solid, not saying it's the best, but it's solid.
"great bullpen? i never heard of any of those guys" - Johnny Venter and Craig Kimbrel are both more than capable of saving 25-30 games a year, and they're both 25 years or younger, Peter Moylan will give you 70+ innings a year as a setup man, Eric O'Flaherty, George Sherril and Scott Proctor are all solid relief pitchers, also just cause you havn't heard of them, doesn't mean they're bad players, Venters and Kimbrel were rookies last year.
"and btw, Jones is done, Best form? he's just gonna get injured again, and if he doesnt he'll have another below average year." - Even if he does get injured we have Prado, and several other young players who can take his place.
"also, your great manager is gone, theres gonna be some changes and they moght not come easy." - I actually think he is the main reason the Braves didn't make it farther than they did last year.
"Braves wont even make the playoffs, the wild card will come from the central," - That's what everyone said last year.
Rollins was very deserving of that award. The stats he put up as a leadoff hitter were unbelieveable.
Blanton is not unpredictable, he's been solid for us since we got him especially in the playoffs. Lidge is due for a great year, and If not, we have Madson.
Who gives a fuck about rings? I do motherfucker... It shows they type of players they are, they have expirience and know how to win.
I was mistaken about Ibanez, he had 30 2 years ago. 16 HR's is still very good for your 7th batter.
Phillies bullpen is not iffy, they have a good mixture of lefty's a righty's who will get the job done. they were great last year, and this year they'll just be more rested.
WHO GIVES A FUCK WHERE THEY'RE AT IN 4 YEARS? I want to win championships now. They have all the pieces, why are they gonna worry about 4 years from now. theyre doing what they need to do to win now. Is that why the Braves haven't been doing shit the past decade? Theyre worrying about 4 years from now? I mean they won the division how many times? like 10 in a row and only won one championship? <_>
Blah blah blah, I stick by my statement, Phillies, Giants, Reds, Rockies, all have better starting pitching, and possibly some others.
Utley is better than Uggla careerwise and 2010- onward. you'll see Utley is a hore, he's the best player on our team and the best 2nd basemen in the league. I admit he has some injury problems, but once he gets this knee thing taken care of, he'll be back stronget then ever. Uggla? GTFO man, he's nowhere near the status of Utley, the only time he'll be better than Utley is when Utley retires. Why are you so delusional?
*sigh* Phillies have the better bench, just look at the bench players stats from last year.
It's nice the Braves have a great bullpen, that should do them well when theyre down 10 runs to the Phillies every time they play. your bench is average at best and the Phillies rock proctor and sherrill on the regular.
Jones is done, and who the fuck is Prado? bench player at best...
dude, this is the most retarded thiung youve said, Bobby COx? cmon bro, youre a braves fan and you arent giving him the credit he deserves? GTFO. Who is your manager again this year?
Braves won't even make the playoffs, the wild card will come out of the central.
And you just brush out pitching staff away like it's nothing. Everyone of them have been an ace for our team or another. Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt, Blanton is not no joke. these guys will compete against eachother and feed off eachother, and learn from eachother. This team will win the division with ease. I'm not gonna say WS, cause we'll have to wait and see how the year unfolds, but I guarentee a division win.
dude, i get it. you have an exciting young, up and coming team, but they cannot hang with the Phils brah. you have to realize this. You prolly won't so talk to me in three months when the Phils have at least a 10 games lead in the division.
I am a diehard passionate fan for my teams, but at least I'm not delusional. Here's my stance on my Philly teams right now.
Phillies have a great chance with the players they have assembled, I think health is the only issue. They will win the division, from there, we'll see.
The Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup.
The Eagles will make the playoffs, then loose the first or second round.
I think you guys are all delusional. It's one thing to be optimistic about your teams chances, but it's another to be completely blindly biased, which all of you are. You guys all sound kinda comical. I'm a White Sox fan, but i'm a realist. I'm not guaranteeing anything. They are the best team in the Central on paper, and one of the better teams in the AL on paper, but that doesn't mean shit. I am cautiously optimistic that they will contend for the Central and be pretty good this year but that's are far as I will go with it. The rest of you i'm not even able to take seriously anymore. It's one thing to be loyal and a fan of your team, it's another to make all kinds of bold predictions and guarantee's when you have no idea how it will play out.
One more thing....... What is with Detroit people and always addressing your team as "we"? you do it with the Red Wings, Lions, and now Tigers. That's not normal, unless your are all part of the payroll. Jay can you answer?
and of course I am biased, but I am also realistic (go back and read the NFL thread, I never once said the Eagles were gonna win anything, I knew they had no chance) but I am also speaking the truth. My team will win the NL east. Call me delusional in 2 months when they have a stranglehold on the division in the first 2 months of the season. I never said WS Champions. I think my team is in the small group of real contenders, but they will definately win the division with that pitching staff. You all know the Phils will win the NL east <_>

It's not just detroit brah, it's all true fans! I say "we" when it comes to all my philly teams too. We feel a part of the team, we live and breathe with thses teams every year, and we're the ones paying their salaries.

I never notice you saying it at all when you talk about your teams. I only notice the Detroit people, oh and my sister in law who know nothing about sports. , an no it is a not a thing that "true fans" say. It make you sound like a woman who is uncomfortable talking about sports. They, their, them, they're, and "the actual name of the team", and even "my team" are acceptable. "Us", "we", and "our" are not acceptable, unless you get signed to a contract from said team.
You should, but you never know. After the Sox won the WS in 05', all they did was in the off season, was make their team better, but they didn't even make the playoffs in 06'. Alot more factors go in to it besides just talent. You can't account for or predict injuries, slumps, or sometimes just bad breaks or bounces. Look at last year alone, the Rangers and Giants? Really? They were both probably predicted to finish in the bottom half of each of thier divisions at the beginning of the season . Not to mention, they play in the two weakest divisions in Baseball. Who could have seen that coming?
I'm not worried about any of that shit man cause I know theyre gonna win the division by a landslide. I'll say it again, we'll win the division, then it depends on who the hot team is in october. Last year it was the Giants, this year, hopefully it's the Phillies.
I think you guys are all delusional. It's one thing to be optimistic about your teams chances, but it's another to be completely blindly biased, which all of you are.
