Marlins will probably break the bank for Jansen now. He can't be going for much less.
Also, the Cubs signed Koji Uehara away from the Red Sox. When healthy he and Davis are a formidable back-end. Problem is they were both hurt for a significant amount of time last year. There's some risk there but they could be bargains compared to Chapman and Jansen.
I am all for anything that improves our chances in 2017. We're pretty much tearing it down no matter what come 2018 so I don't really care how many prospects the White Sox hoard, I just want their good players gone.
Dodgers resigned Jansen for 5 years, $80mil with an opt-out after the 3rd season. Justin Turner is supposed to be about to sign a 4 year deal with them as well
They're positioning it like they have to spend this money to manage expectations in their market. They've also blamed most of their debt in the McCourt era and the commissioner is playing ball with them. You know how leagues are with big markets. They pretty much let those teams do what they want because they want the income
Damn the White Sox want Frazier or Torres and a few other prospects for Quintana. I'd smack the shit out of Cashman if he made that deal. Give em Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin and maybe one or two more prospects but not Frazier or Torres. Fuck it, give em Gregorious or Castro to make room for Torres and Mateo.
