Like I don't know the Yankees have the most paperest of fans. Half of em' are about to hop off now that Jeter's gone and we haven't made the playoffs in 2 seasons. If you win the WS this year, you'll only have 22 more to go.
If relevancy means not winning championships, the tigers haven't been relevant in a long ass time.
We currently have the longest active postseason streak in MLB. Not easy to do when only 5 teams in each league qualify. Multiple Cy Young winners, a Triple Crown winner, multiple AL MVPs, an American League pennant, three straight ALCS appearances. I'd say we've been quite relevant in the last five years. What have the Yankees won? It's not just not winning the World Series, it's being mired in mediocrity.

Yankees will be back next season with a healthy rotation and younger players (hopefully). We managed to stick around all season with a bunch of no name starters and a terrible offense.
