The only aspect of the game I would give McCutchen an advantage in is defense. He is probably the only centerfielder I would take over Austin Jackson. Other than that, this is by far his best year and there's no reason to believe he won't regress towards his career numbers yet, which are worse than Miggy's. Miggy is a known quantity. I get that McCutchen is playing out of his mind.....I still would pick Miggy over him if I need a run knocked in. There is no one better at putting the ball in play and using the entire field.
Yes I would. He's had one or two so-called "slumps" this year and he's still got the numbers he has. I suppose you could make an argument that being protected by Fielder and Martinez has helped, but Miggy has put up similar stat lines his entire career.
you might wanna think about that again after today ryan
WHAT A GAME...tigers down 3 runs 2 outs no one on and the tigers drop a 5 spot and cabrera ends it with his 27th big fly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! one of the best games iv seen in a long long long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Never said he wasn't an awesome player, that's perfectly true. Just think that if you are looking for a better baseball player, they're definitely out there.
Giants sweep the Rockies, right when they need to also. Dodgers are in close with the Cubs right now. I'd love to see them 1.5 behind when the Giants head to St. Louis. It'll cushion the blow, because I think that the Dodgers take the lead in the division at some point in the next week. Terrified of the Diamondbacks right now. I think they're the best team of the three on paper, and their schedule is so easy right now, I think they'll make a big push over the rest of August. I love paying attention to this three dog race for the NL West, it's going to get awesome when September comes around. I'm starting to think that the NL winner is going to come from one of these three teams.

For clarification, I was solely talking about hitting. I am aware that there are more complete players than Cabrera, including McCutchen. I have been arguing that there is no better hitter.
Why are you so sure the NL winner is going to be one of those three? I like the Giants' pitching, but the NL is more wide open than the AL at this point.
Trigers are in the second wild card spot right now. The Yankees are next.....
cabrera is also the second best fielding 3rd baseman in the AL...only .003 behind beltre...he doesn't have outstanding range but he makes every play and i doubt there is a player with a stronger arm then him playing third....he should get consideration for the gold glove if he keeps his percentage where its at
well based on his fielding percentage he is right there with all the good ones...and also when it comes down to 2-3 players that are really close they usually end up going by there batting stats...which i always thought was stupid but its a big reason why jeter won so many
im not saying hes going to win it....or even should...but based on the way hes played this year he deserves to be talked about more for his defensive abilities
"i love to hit" "i like to field" "did i say i love to hit?"
