Keep it illegal so that teens binge on it and poison themselves out in the woods and are too scared of legal concequences to get friends the medical help they need rather than have them in a safe environment where they can learn the ropes of safe consumption and proper drunken responsibility.
Great plan!
So they should make it legal so that kids won't do something stupid, which they probably will anyway? Lol okay.
yeah, at least then we end up with fewer people in the prison industrial system. Also, it might lead to further education of substances instead of demonization of it. When we demonize something and say "don't do it cuz it's bad" instead of educating kids on the consequences of drug use, you get lots of kids who say "fuck it i wanna do it" and don't know what what to expect or how to react.
but did they actually teach you what they are or just say "hey if you do lots of Drug X you'll overdose and die, so don't do it"? While it's obvious that hard drugs like crack, heroin, meth etc are dangerous, less harmful substances such as marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, and the like all get a really bad rep because the drug scare and government propaganda people went through in the '60s.
You guys seem to have such little faith in humanity as it is. So why does it matter to you whether or not people you think as stupid have access to these kinds of things? Criminalizing them just creates of vicious cycle where people in shitty situation often serve life sentences for petty drug offenses end up in prison and their life and their family's lives are pretty much fucked. Why not let people be able to make the decision for themselves whether or not they want to fuck around with hard drugs? They should be held responsible for their actions if their actions harm other people, but if they just harm themselves, who cares? There's already plenty of shit going on with drugs that are legal. What makes alcohol and prescription drugs any different than things like weed, cocaine, LSD, or even meth? They're all mind altering substances that have the potential to harm you if handled irresponsibly. Should we make all of those illegal too?
My argument is dealing students having easy and legal access to alcohol. Not adults making bad decisions. If adults want to kill themselves and ruin their lives, thats in them. But I dont think it should be easily accessible for retarded kids.
College students can barely handle it. High school students wouldnt maturely handle it.
That's where education comes in. Also I still believe in a 18 minimum age. Also i figure the sooner you learn your limits the better. and in the event somebody still makes bad decisions, if it were decriminalized kids might not be too scared to call the paramedics in fear of what might happen to them if they're caught with these substances.
Mc maybe if you drank at a younger age you could have made more mistakes and evolved as a person. I definitely wish I wouldn't have drank as much when I was 18, but I learned a lot of lessons you won't otherwise know. Now you're gonna get fucked up and make yourself look like a total fool.
Every kid I went to school with had drug and alcohol education classes...
We had a DARE program in elementary school and parts of middle school maybe. Other than that they may have touched with it in health class. But their main push was "don't do drugs cuz they're bad and damage your health n stuff". There really wasn't anything really educational about all drugs. Just don't do them

So its bad that I didnt make mistakes?
EDIT: also, I blacked out and threw up because of drinking one time. It was all I needed. I havent blacked out since. I havent thrown up since. I never will get that drunk again. I dont get drunk often. Since I stopped talking to Erica this summer, I got drunk twice. And thinking about it, the only reason I got drunk when I talked to her is because she liked to drink a lot, so I thought of it as a way to connect to her. I was right about not enjoying being drunk.
But Im also 21, and almost graduating college. I doubt Id be as rational and controlled as an 18 year old high school student in the same position. Thankfully, I never gave in to alcohol or drugs. Thankfully I never went to any parties. I still dont go to parties because I despise that lifestyle.
You people have too much faith in humanity. Humans are stupid. High school students are stupid. They think they're immortal. Education or not, they're going to get fucked up weekend after weekend.

Look at colorado. They made weed legal and the % of youth that are pot smokers went down.
Same thing happened in Peru when they decriminalized everything.
