I thought it was really strong lyrically, actually. Probably where it shines the most. James also sounds fantastic on it (the whole band does really). Length for the most part didn’t bother me like it did with Hardwired. Most of them were surprisingly good tunes. The only ones I didn’t like were Crown Of Barbed Wire, You Must Burn! And If Darkness Had A Son. Overall great thematically. Title Track, Too Far Gone?, Shadows Follow and Inomarta were all fucking monster jams. Not a super strong album or anything but pretty good imo. I don’t think anyone is expecting anything ground breaking from them at this point but honestly I thought 72 Seasons was the best we could hope for at this point in their career.

Both records were hard, listened after I seen your posts. When did Unearth change sound like that tho? To be fair, even back in the day, they were never a band I listened to that heavily, and their last and only album I’ve heard is “The March”, but since then, they’re almost an entirely different band. There’s still Metalcore elements for sure, but a lot of this album sounded moreso like At The Gates style Melodeath, and even SkeletonWitch style Blackened Thrash at points. And the vocals were so drastically different that I had to Google it because I thought for sure they had a new vocalist lmao.
I think the change happened on the album before this one. I remember they released a single a few years ago and everyone had the reaction you just had lol

I still love em. I really liked the last album despite that. But they're never top In The Eyes Of Fire.
