I disagree. I think its on a comeback. Last year Trivium and Demon Hunter put out KILLER albums. This year we got Bleeding Through, The Agony Scene, Unearth, Downpour, Death Ray Vision and even fucking All That Remains coming through with it. Not to mention KSE touring like crazy and about to drop a new album, August Burns Red got new shit soon, AND As I Lay Dying is back.

And yesterday at my show we had a bunch of people saying how happy they were that we play that style of metalcore too. Even at a local level people are starting to get burnt out with slammy Code Orange/Knocked Loose type hardcore and want more melody again

    2000s metalcore is back bitch.

Maybe in that area. East and west coast are eating up the whole 90s metallic wave again. Theres also a LOT more newer bands adopting the style. Vein, Sanction, Knocked Loose, Code orange, Jesus Piece, Konashi, I Am, Revenge Season, Vatican, Malice At The Palace, Orthodox, Harms Way, Year Of The Knife, Candy, Trail Of Lies etc. All of them and more are going back. Even older bands like Unearth and Remembering Never are taking it back.

I used to be the biggest metalcore fag and I can't hardly listen to a lot of that stuff anymore. The few "core" shows I've been to over the last couple years just aren't the same as they used to be. I know this is anecdotal but it just seems that this is the way it's going for the genre as metalcore isn't even covered on the news sites like it used to be. The tours aren't coming around as often, it's just different.

stoner and doom are similar. they still sell pretty well, but there was a huge doom resurgence from like 2011 - 2017. for a couple years there, EVERYBODY wanted to be electric wizard lol.

I feel like region has a lot to do with it. When I was in Nashville doom was huge. Doom was never big in Chicago, it was a thrash city. Now it seems like hardcore is king everywhere.

hardcore has always been pretty big out here, but bands like knocked loose and jesus piece have definitely boosted it recently.

Denver is a pretty big hardcore city. But it also has a ton of sludge and doom

The town i live in now has almost no music scene to speak of besides hippie jam bands. There are like 5 metal bands. Funny enough they are all metalcore

Its interesting just cause I never thought hardcore was as big a deal on the west coast. But I know theres been a surgence oi f crossover bands that tend to do really well there. Homewrecker, Full Of Hell and Power Trip especially.

Honestly its cuz the hipsters have flooded hardcore right now. Its like how they were all about doom and shoegazey black metal 3 years ago. The hardcore scene are all angry hipster college students
