Yeah I mostly listen to older stuff. I thought it was just me, but everything has been either really derivative or just plain bad lately. I've been downloading weird shit like Russian Chillout compilations just to hear something that won't bore me after 5 minutes

I'm kinda off black metal in general. The only reason I like Ghost Bath is cuz they have the post-metal Toolish kinda thing and I really did think they were Chinese when I first listened to them, which made a difference. Since I found out they were from North Dakota, I can't help but imagine them as a bunch of Todds lol. The album cover is awesome

By being better. I wasn't too impressed with black metal last year. this year, there's tons of great stuff that fills different niches. Some of it is the super fierce, some more cascadian, some really cool atmospheric/folky stuff. I can honestly say there were quite a few records this year that presented something that I hadn't heard. Were they 100% original? Of course not, nothing is. But there were plenty of bands approaching black metal, post-metal, death metal etc a little differently, or adding in influences from other stuff, that were fresh to me. Or some bands just did a particular sound really well.

There's definitely cool stuff happening out there. The latest Thy Darkened Shade album is pretty badass. I'm just exposed to new bands mostly from seeing them live, so most the black metal i discover is american.

I'm going to vacation there someday. I want to visit Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Japan someday. 

I also want to hit up Inferno Fest in Norway, Wacken, Hellfest, and Bloodstock someday.

I need to hit up MDF and CDF first though.

of all the huge euro fests, Hellfest is the best one. Wacken is weak shit compared to Hellfest and Bloodstock.

Yea, but its still Wacken. Its a metal mecca, and I'd still love to go.

I want to do a metal cruise sometime too. Hopefully one Alestorm plays at.
